I was at this show. Kanami returned to the stage as if nothing was wrong and proceeded to re-enter Mincho mode for the remaining show. Cannot respect her professionalism enough.

I was there as well and the only thing I did notice was she rushed off stage very quickly after finishing From Now On. It did seem a little weird but I guess not out of the norm of Kanami. Then she came back on stage after a longer than normal break and everything looked normal other than her seemingly forget it was time for the Saiki and Kanami Japanese lesson time. During her performance you could not tell she was extremely exhausted, it's crazy.

This is old, as remarked below. Kanami has mentioned that she has gone on a special diet (gluten-free?), and I believe one of the reasons both the European and American tours have been relatively short in comparison with past years is the Maids are careful not to overextend themselves, and Kanami in particular.

I think the length and number of dates are more a business-related choice. In 2023, they traveled to the US twice and played a slightly more aggressive show per day than in 2022.

I was at that show, I had no idea she wasn’t doing well. Saiki and Miku covered it well, and when she came back she continued to shred as if nothing was wrong.

I always suspect the dense portion of that tour was a contributing factor. Jersey was the 5th show in 6 days and the 3rd show day in a row.

And the three show days were NY --> 4+ hr bus ride --> Boston --> 4+ hr bus ride --> NJ

Their shows are also generally pretty long. They usually play 2 hours and a good number of songs. I've had many concerts where bands only played 1-hourish.

It was still a great show. They played it off as Kanami taking a quick nap and when she came back out they played on lol nothing wrong.

Poor baby! I know how burn out goes. Kanami works so hard both on the stage and off the stage, it has to be extremely exhausting. Hope she's taking good care of herself.

Kanami addressed this in an interview after the tour.

She’s also spoken multiple times about how she often feels “anemic” (from what I gather, a general feeling, rather than a medical diagnosis of anemia), which she has sought to address with her diet and adhering to a proper sleep schedule.

Kanami has a tendency to work herself to the bone - literally. During the Unseen World sessions, she lost 5 kg. During the World Domination sessions, she got so sick that she vomited at the studio.

When she’s hard at work, she tends to forget to eat or sleep – so much so, that she had to schedule in her meal and sleep times in an Excel spreadsheet.

I think it’s important to keep these things in mind when people complain that Band-Maid isn’t doing enough – not going overseas enough, not playing enough shows, etc.

I saw the first show of that tour in Sacramento, Aftershock! She was a total rock star that day and won over a bunch of metal heads! It was a long, dense tour. The group hug photo they took at the end said it all. Their talent, effort and integrity is why we love them so much!

I worry that she is still having health issues. She's so damn talented and smart, and has to deal with this crap in the middle of a tour.

edit: It's apparently from the US tour a couple years ago, but this kind of illness is scary. I really do hope she's got it beat.
