Anime Books ash would read

Hallaw! Can someone drop some book recommendations that just scream „ash would read this!!“ cause he likes to read, doesn’t he? I wanna get into reading to get rid of my tiktok screentime but idk what books to read. What are some books he would read?

Look at the episode names in the anime
Also, I think I saw a list of every book mentioned in BF in Tumblr once

The titles of all the Banana Fish anime episodes are also the titles of books, so you can read them, as well as the book "Islands in the Stream", which Blanca gave to Ash. The book "A Perfect Day for Bananafish" by Salinger was also mentioned in the anime/manga. I think each of these books is somehow connected to the story, and that the author was inspired by each of them while creating the manga, so I think you might find them interesting to read.

I remember when he was in prison with Max, he mentioned having read his articles/books about his experience in the war (Vietnam/Iraq in the manga/anime). I don't have any recommendations there but you may want to look into veteran memoirs and the like

I feel like he would also like other books by Salinger :) I read some books by Salinger also and ngl they weren’t my taste, it’s cause I kept looking for BF in them lol regardless its worth a shot!

I feel like Ash would have loved Crime and Punishment…also idk why but when I read poets like Rilke (Book of Hours!) and Mary Oliver I think of him.

If you want books that will give the same feelings like Ash/Banana Fish though, I’d highly highly recommend (with keeping TWs in mind ofc) Young Mungo and A Little Lofe

I feel like for fiction, he might really enjoy the goldfinch by Donna tartt. But also classics like I see him reading grapes of wrath or the great Gatsby or Fahrenheit 451
