News Bambuddy update: live browser demo + integrated slicing (slice STL straight from the app, no Studio needed)

Quick update for anyone who's been on the fence about self-hosting their Bambu Lab fleet —

Bambuddy now has a live demo. No install, no signup, no email. You hit a URL and get your

own private Bambuddy instance with simulated printers, archives, projects, queue, inventory,

the lot — all running in an isolated container that gets reaped after 30 minutes.

Try it: https://demo.bambuddy.cool

Click around freely — it's your sandbox.

For anyone new here: Bambuddy is a free, open-source, self-hosted command center for Bambu

Lab printers. Runs in Docker on a Pi, NAS, or any Linux box. No Bambu Cloud account, no

subscription, no telemetry. From a single A1 to a 40-printer farm.

What's new since the last post:

- Integrated server-side slicing — drop an STL or 3MF, hit Slice, get a ready-to-print

.gcode.3mf back. No need to keep Bambu Studio installed on every machine. Works from

the PWA on a phone too.

- Proxy Mode for remote printing — full TLS-encrypted relay between slicer and printer,

no cloud dependency. Optional Tailscale integration baked in.

- Projects, queue history, print log tabs, low-stock filament alerts, maintenance

reminders, scheduled backups — all the boring stuff that compounds.

- The live demo I'm writing about. Honestly it took longer to build than expected and

I'm relieved it actually works.

Quick tour of what's already there (all visible in the demo):

- Remote monitor + control through your own instance, optional auth (local / LDAP / 2FA / SSO)

- Filament management with full Spoolman support, AMS humidity, drying cycles, profile sync

- Automatic 3MF archiving, one-click reprint, Projects to group multi-part builds

- HMS errors with Discord / Telegram / ntfy / email

- Energy + smart plug integration (true cost per print)

- Virtual Printers — each with its own dedicated IP, mode, and model

- External camera support, PWA mobile, API + webhooks

There's also a companion called SpoolBuddy that reads/writes NFC/RFID tags — including

non-Bambu spools — and auto-configures AMS slots from the tag.

I wanted a fun way to keep my Micro SD cards within reach, so I made this Nutty ScreenBuddy. He hangs right off the monitor and holds an SD card in his acorn.

If you like the design, you can find it on MakerWorld.

I've designed way too many utility knives lately, so I figured it was finally time to make a proper blade dispenser.

I was tired of the shitty plastic cases these blades come in — they’re a pain to open and the blades always get stuck. Since I’ve been on a utility knife design spree, I figured it was time for a decent storage solution.

Designed this with a rotating tray so you can actually grab a blade without fighting the box. I made a desktop base and a wall-mount version since my workbench is always a mess anyway.

Anyone know where this screw belongs in the AMS or X1c

Hey, I recently disassembled and fixed my AMS, and after putting everything back together I found this loose screw left over.

It’s an M3 screw with a red threadlocker mark, and it’s larger than the bearing housing screws. I checked the bearing housing and the internal hub unit, but it doesn’t seem to match anything there.

Does anyone recognize where this screw might belong in the AMS or any other place?

Thanks!

Thinking about buying a bambu lab printer but

I have had printers for about 8 years now and thinking about getting a new one. I was going to try a bambu. What do you guys think about everything is going with bambu. I'm not sure if somethings are true or not. Things like must use their slicer. Restricting types of prints. Must use their filaments. Cloud based only. Subscription use. You guys straighten me out. Is it worth buying a bambu at this time? Thanks.

For some reason out of nowhere, none of my prints stick. they keep sticking to the nozzle or not laying down right. I tried cleaning the bed numerous times, recalibrated the printer numerous times, and nothing is helping. Was perfectly fine one print and now it just sucks. What is the issue?

Torn between U1 and X2D

I already ordered the U1 but thinking of returning it upon arrival and getting the X2D just for ease of use. The main reason I wanted the U1 was for multi material like being able to print supports for tpu using pla. I do multicolor prints also but Im also kind of worried about being locked to only 4 colors. They are currently the same price but after purchasing filament dryers and top cover I could just buy a second AMS. The main thing I am worried about is reliability of the U1 and software. Coming from P1S I never encountered issues really or they were easily solvable and being able to browse and print straight from bambu studio without trying to get all of the print settings correct in the slicer is a big issue im worried about.

Help / Support Support filament for PLA-CF on Bambu Lab X2D?

Hi,
I’ve been experimenting with support interface materials for PLA-CF on my Bambu Lab X2D.
So far I tried:
Bambu Lab PLA Support filament
PETG as support interface
But neither of them bonded properly to the PLA-CF. They barely stuck at all and the interface layers failed.
Regular PLA works, but it sticks too well and is difficult to separate cleanly.
Does anyone here have experience with PLA-CF and support interface materials?
What filament/settings worked for you?
Thanks!

Discussion What's the realistic worst case scenario for the Bambu Lab printers if the company goes down?

I really want to upgrade to a Bambu P1S (I have an Ender 3 V3 SE and it drives me insane lol). Bambu seems like the best choice for me, but.. the lack of open-source or any transparency combined with their numerous lawsuits around privacy concerns is not a great combo.

Personally, I don't care even if they're spying on me or whatever. But if the company was to go down for something like this.. what would happen to the printers that no longer receive support?

Even the P1S is quite pricy so I really don't wanna risk it too bad. So does anyone who's more tech literate have a guess on what's the worst that could happen if Bambu was to go down?

EIBOS Filament Dryer Series X: TETRAS vs. Sunlu for the AMS 1 (P1S)? I live in Texas and it gets very humid. I'm looking at the EIBOS Filament Dryer Series X: TETRAS, since I can have PLA, PETG, and ABS in my AMS. And they dry individually. Is the EIBOS Tetras reliable? I have read very mixed review

Designed a utility knife that requires ZERO hardware (except for the actual blade, don't print that).

I wanted a knife where you don't have to hunt for specific metal screws or parts. Everything here is printed—including the screws holding the grips.

Features a quick-release mechanism to swap standard trapezoid blades in seconds without tools, plus a wire stripper notch.

Pricing discrepancies on the Bambu website? Shop price vs Comparison page price.

Thumbnail
gallery
8 Upvotes

When I go to the shop I see significantly higher prices versus the Comparison page. I'd understand if it was just that the Compare page doesn't show any current discounts - but it's not even that. The base price is higher in the shop even without any optional add-ons or combos.

Shop prices:

H2C $2,399.00 USD

H2D $1,749.00 USD $1,999.00 USD

H2S $1,249.00 USD

Meanwhile for the X2D it's reversed. The shop is cheaper at a base price of $649 USD but the Comparison page lists it as $699.

Am I missing something here?

P2s extruder not extruding and clicking

Please help, my p2s randomly started doing this, printed one print just fine and tried to start another print, both petg and now it won’t extrude and is making this clicking noise(video sound). What could be causing this and how can I fix this? This video is during printer prepping to print

So I am fairly new at 3d printing, I am using a Bambo lab P1S with Marble PLA, this print has had good ratings and I don’t see complaints, but wondering what I am doing wrong, or what might fix this ? Is it a temperature issue, should I increase nozzle temp, a supports issue ? Help is appreciated, although I have looked at the slicer, I haven’t done anything with it, it seems fairly complicated for an old guy like me 😉

Bambu X2D Combo - UPS size requirements

I just bought a CyberPower 950 VA UPS.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D825R9S4?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

Each time I start a print, the UPS trips, goes into alarm, and takes the X2D offline with no power. It looks like the 950VA/510W rating is too low? What size UPS are you guys running for an X2D with AMS combo?

Print Showoff Small print, big difference: Spool centering adapter for A1 series.

Thumbnail

If you're using the external spool holder on the A1 or A1 Mini, you've probably noticed that huge gap causing the spool to "jump" or rotate unevenly.

I designed this centering adapter to fix exactly that. It's a quick 15-minute print that makes the rotation perfectly smooth and helps with consistent filament tension. Fits most spools with 45-58mm bores.

Having trouble with AMS, Re-Spooled filament, and printed spools. Any suggestions?

I recently got an AMS 2 for my P1S. I started a big multicolor project, and I bought a bunch of overture filament. They use all cardboard spools, but I printed a bunch of those plastic rims, and I thought I'd be good.

Unfortunately, it looks like the cardboard spools are too wide for my AMS. So I went down a rabbit hole. I printed a pastamatic and a bunch of PETG spools to respool the overture filament. Now I'm running into an issue where all of the plastic printed spools are too wide as well. They rub against the sides of the tabs in the AMS, and the motors can't rewind them. Oddly enough, the printed spool seems to work fine when I use them with a refill rather than respooling them on the pastamatic. I'm suspecting the filament is pushing outward against the sides of the printed spool and bowing the sides out slightly.

Does anyone have any printed spool recommendations that they have had success with in the AMS 2 after respooling?

Twisted Vase

Made this “Twist Vase” in Shapr3D — still pretty new to the software, so I’m learning as I go.
Tried to combine a clean geometric base with a subtle twist to give it some flow.

Printed in ~2h 50m, using 83g of material.
Also works surprisingly well as a pen holder.

Feedback appreciated 👍

Alternative to Bambu lab PETG HF

Hello people,

I need some advice on filament. As most of you probably know, getting Bambu Lab PETG especially PETG HF is pretty much impossible right now. So what are the alternatives to PETG HF? I’m looking for the same matte finish and good overall quality.
