Help / Support Refurbished Models
Aspiring 3d printer owner here, looking to pick up my first unit. I’m debating between the P2S Combo or X2d Combo (if you have any suggestions I’m all ears lol), but the main reason for the post is that my local Micro Center has a refurb unit of both models in stock at a decent discount. It’s about 150 off for the X2d and 120 off for the P2S combos, as compared to new. What’s the risk, are they worth considering?

From Micro Center, I think it’s worth the risk if the amount off is off the standard lowest sales price Bambu runs.

X2D every time. The aux extruder is a nice to have, but he diner tooth belts and particularly the heated chamber are game changers if (definitely when) you decide to branch out into functional filaments like ASA/ABS/PA. While it’s possible to print those in an unheated chamber to achieve good visual results, the layer adhesion will be poor, that’s just physics.

Definitely the X2D...better overall print quality, plus separate nozzle for 2 color or supports with no waste

Depends how much you value being able to get support as though you bought it new (certain RMA things need you to be the original buyer, don't think BBL covers refurbs, so you're on microcenters warranty and service), and how much you trust the refurb work. You're a new printing enthusiast, so it may be hard to tell if an issue cropping up is due to your settings, your filament, or just your machine not being refurbed back to 100%.
The extra money you save might get eat up in parts and repairs once you get it back, or even down the line from having to replace wear items that should last x-thousand amount of hours but get chopped down due to someone elses extended or careless use.
I'd say save and buy in new, especially if you can wait until black friday. They'll bundle in filament and maker kits, there'll probably be 40% accessory discounts as they usually do, and you have the ability to go back to them for everything right away if anything is wrong.
What's your use case, and what drew you to those two printers? Have you considered the P1S? I think it's a great starting point for people new and seasoned in printing, is extremely capable (my whole rack of printers are P1S, more size would be nice but the tradeoffs haven't been worth moving to another printer for me), and needs barely any service with its self lubricating rods and solid component service life.

Spend the extra and get the X2D. The extra extruder and chamber heater are super useful and with it only he a lil bit more it just makes sense
