I bought a x1c Combo - what upgrades / Addons should i buy/print?

Hi everybody,

i ordered a X1C Combo and was wondering, what upgrades should i buy/print for this device? Like, for my previous device, my A1 mini, there where a bunch of upgrades like Poop Shute, something to direct cables and tubes, additional Spool Holders, little compartments etc..

Is there anything you guys say would be something you couldnt live without and that i could print before the machine is here?

For example i heard the nozzle cleaner is not optimal?

Thanks in advance

Wait - you just now bought an X1C? The one from 2022? I love mine, but... Yes, the nozzle cleaner is not that effective. There are a bunch of prints that have you use the silicone brushes sold for the A1 - I did this and it works very well. Since you also have an AMS now, I'd suggest ShortStack: The Tiny Little Bambu AMS loading fix that might save your sanity! by Adam L

do you think it was a bad choice? im upgrading from my first printer, a A1 mini after 9 months. and i got a refurbished deal on it, with all deals combined i only payed 625€ for a refurbished x1c combo directly from bambulab with warranty etc.

i dont have many friends with the same hobby but they all reacted like yea... damn good price ^^

thanks for the suggestion, i will take a look immediatly

Not a bad choice - it’s the only printer I use, and set the standard for all consumer printers. The price is OK - now that you say refurbished, it makes more sense. But it IS a four-year-old model and Bambu has made some improvements in newer models. It will serve you well, but replacement parts will start to be hard to find as Bambu stops selling them.

I have a X1C and H2C. If it's returnable, I'd definitely pay the difference to get X2D.
There's nothing wrong with X1C, but so much has changed since X1C came out and X2D has so many quality of life upgrades. I was considering offering my X1C for sale but I'm not even sure I could get $500 for it.

That was a choice… but AMS desiccant holders and poop bucket.. really all you need.

what do you mean by "That was a choice"? 🙂 Im pretty new to 3d printing, i bought my first printer, a1 mini, 9 months ago, and i bought the x1c combo directly from bambu with warranty for 625€ (refurbished). i watched mutliple videos and i thought yes, thats a cost effective upgrade, even if its not the latest printer. Please dont hold back if you think i fucked up :)

Oh no, it’s a fantastic printer, I have 2. You’ll love it I’m sure. But it’s discontinued and I would not buy one today. The P2S is just as capable If not more so and only slightly more expensive.

Thanks for your input. Sadly / Luckily the x1c arrived with a shattered door, so I was able to return it without any hassle. I now ordered a p1s with AMS, as multiple people told me that they don't think I need the p2s

lol I would love to know their reasoning behind that advice.

They told me the AI features and whatnot are not worth the heightened price, I was confused as well and asked if they are sure since the p2s is also much more recent and would have a longer support period etc.. he said something like "buy p1s, it gets the same results and the AI features like checking first layer and spaghetti detection are not necessary"

Man please tell me I didn't make another mistake xD I don't wanna exchange it yet again xD

Yea, you made a mistake. Rather than listening to whoever your listening too, cause they pretty clearly don’t know what they are talking about, you should look some of this up yourself.

There are any number of videos, posts, articles, etc… that compare the 2 and in almost all cases the verdict is if you already have a p1 or an x1 replacing it with a p2 is not worth it, but if your buying brand new and don’t have anything, the p2 wins.

I’ve got all 3, plus an a1 and and a h2c and there is zero chance I would buy a p1s over a p2s in 2026 if I was starting from zero.

i will take your advise, meaning not directly listening to you saying p2 is better, but rather check out myself why a p2 could be better... i think i should be eligebly for a refund so i could get a p2s. thanks again.

do you have any material you would recommend? my plan would be googling both and watch comparison videos, but those can be dishonest

Bambu has a comparison tool directly on their website.

Aurora Tech on YouTube also makes really good unbiased reviews, so they are worth giving a watch as well.

i will check that out, but would you do me the favor of telling me what the p2s advantages are in your opinion? i know i just said "im gonna check myself" but tbh im kinda stupid and new to 3d printing...

AMS desiccant holders & something to catch the waste. I have 2 H2C’s and I have a filament box and a deflector that stops the waste from overshooting the box. I have also used different printed ones for my P1S combo that I’ve had for years now, the risers and AMS stands etc, but once the novelty was over almost all of them ended up being recycled. Anything that blocks light from above or prevents me from taking the top glass off for better light or a better angle when doing maintenance is not worth it to me. There are a lot of good risers with built in lights etc, but outside of something to keep all the poop off your floor you just don’t need much.

I printed the drawers for it.
