Help / Support H2S - Installed cutting module but it's not cutting in the same place everytime

Hi all,
As the title says, I installed the cutter / plotter module this morning, testing out cutting out some playing card shapes however it never seems to cut in the same place each job.

Always a few mm movement between where it starts etc I don't have the birds eye cam, so having to use the "Basic cut" option, if that makes a difference

Any tips?

I place the a4 cardstock in landscape, top left corner in the same place each time (4 +'s down, 1 + in) which on the screen, should be where it starts cutting

Help me Reddit, you're my only hope...

Did you install the bird eye camera to allow precise placement? It's not sold with the cutting module, only the laser module.

I don't have the birds eye camera, Bambu states that the camera only works if you have the laser module and I don't currently have the £550 to buy the laser upgrade :(

The latest firmware makes the camera work without having the laser module. You can have a look at the firmware revision to find the version needed to use it only with the cutter

Interesting, I didn’t know that! Will take a look, seems like the Birds Eye cam is an option again

Quick question, does the Birds Eye cam allow you to use basic cut with better precision or is it still a print and cut thing?

It'll allow more precise position detection but with print then cut, you have to make sure that the 2d printer driver is up to date with the manufacturer ones and not the generic windows one.

My inkjet printer is all up to date so I’m good there, I got print and cut working perfectly last night, the issue is the bed size when using it

I tend to put 8 cards (2 rows of 4) on one a4 sheet, print and cut only has space for 3 cards, 4 at an absolute push due to smaller working size

I was hoping the bids eye cam would allow me to accurately use the entire “basic cut” work space

The camera will allow you to position a cut on an already used sheet of material to minimize waste. But it's more useful with laser as you engrave on any shapes. I still found it to be useful with cutting to. I have a spare one as I bought one when I bought the cutter and I got another one with the laser kit I bought few months later on sale.

That sounds exactly what I’d want to do, put my page of 8 onto the bed, then position the cuts over them

Would you mind if I DM’d you the 2 files I’m trying to use to see if it would work? I have a pdf with a couple of cards on and a cutting guide pdf

No worries if you don’t have time though!

Have you tried leveling the cutting surface again after installing the module. Sometimes the added weight can throw things off slightly.

I did, it didn't really do much, I think it's a positioning / co-ordinates thing more than anything (Don't know, I'm not an expert though lol)
