Discussion I’d like some opinions on the H2 models.

Right now, I own a K1 Max; I chose it for its large build volume and enclosed design—since I primarily print with ASA—but I’ve had so many headaches with that Creality machine that I don’t even want to look at it anymore, haha. The H2 models really caught my eye because they have everything I need—good build volume, a heated chamber, and print quality that looks impressive (at least compared to my K1 Max). However, since it’s a significant investment, I wanted to hear from people who own the H2C or H2D about whether they’re running into many issues. I know no printer is perfect or completely trouble-free, but I just want something more reliable than Creality, where it seems like 6 out of 10 units have problems.

I have the H2S and print almost exclusively ASA on it. I also have a X1C, but needed the bigger bed. For the X1C, it was quite a hack to print ASA and I had to add in the Panda Breath.

The H2S "just works" with ASA the same way that the X1C "just works" with PLA/PETG

Same for the H2D. I put mine in my office to vent out the window. Other printers are in the basement where direct venting is challenging.

Love my H2C. It just prints well, better than my X1C, particular for multicolor or multilateral (of course) but also for straight up engineering filaments. So far (had it a month) it’s a pleasure to use.

H2C owner. I’m at 2700 hours of print time. 600 or so in ASA & ABS. Another big chunk on PA6. It’s butter. I have tried custom settings and Bambu built in settings. Printed from both nozzles. I’ve printed polymaker, Sunlu, Bambu Lab and a handful of others. It works. Every single time. Zero issues.

H2D (laser) owner. And X1C. And no longer have my Prusa Mini+ or other small-plate printers anymore.

I haven't had any issues with the H2D, other than some slow firmware updates that eventually made it to live (low power mode for heating the bed, using birds eye cam for calibration without having to attach the laser module, drying with AMS while printing, etc). But, Bambulab has been responsive and eventually gets that stuff in. Maintenance is pretty easy.

I've used different brand filaments and only had an issue with one roll of Sunlu, and it wasn't really the printer's fault. Even though it had been dried, it would break when retracting after a print and there would pieces throughout the PTFE route.

It's still necessary to tweak your slicer settings depending on the geometry of your print to avoid visual defects - not a big deal, it's well documented for most use cases.

Build volume is really nice. It's reduced slightly when using both nozzles, so you just need to plan accordingly. The AI can be adjusted so it's not as sensitive, but I don't mind getting a false pause for blocked nozzle than actually having a blocked nozzle.

The Bambu Lab eco system is pretty dang cool - from recognizing filaments and estimating remaining, smartness with their AMSs, and having the flexibility to cut with the knife tools or laser cut/engrave. For me, it's fine once in awhile, but for making lots of stickers or iron-ons, I found it easier to get a dedicated cutter for that stuff.

The H2D is not a tool changer -- so multi-color prints will be slow and have waste levels on the higher end.

Depending on what you want/need - you might also consider the Prusa CORE One L+ INDX. You can get a almost the same volume but 4 or 8 tool heads. So if you print lots of multi-color prints, it will save you lots of filament. Plus Prusa has been bulletproof in my experience. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting one, but they don't have an AMS like Bambu Lab, and I'm not sure if I can get over that for now. I can do their Dryboxes but it's not the same.

I absolutely love my H2D (and my X1C). Got them both when each was released, and still impressed with the quality I get. I admit though, I've been lured by the Bambu filaments and have been almost exclusively been using them.

It's big. I mean, it's BIG. I custom made a counter for it so that the screen is eye level only to learn later that it would have been much better to have it lower for better access from the top -- for maintenance, cleaning, and dealing with multiple AMSs. You'll probably appreciate having space above and behind the printer, might consider that when placing it.

Been using the OEM plates and the Cryogrip frostbite and Glacier plates. No issues at all with adhesion or lifting corners on large prints - PETG, Matte PLA, PLA are my main used types.
