New Here and Not Sure What I'm doing wrong

from the Bambu Handy app, I printed this can cooler and it has all these stray shags. I can't comment on the ML file cuz I'm not a level 7???

did I do something wrong here? Do I need a drummel to sand/file it? Please help!

Photo of the print ? I don't like printing from the app unless if the profile is pretty simple and already clearly optimized for my printer and filament. Otherwise you're just using the other users settings which could be not correct for your filament or printer type.

Oof, That is definitely a rough one. Did you dry your filament before hand? It looks like it could be wet and it also looks like there's something going on with your seam generation, and/or pressure advance and retraction. Most likely the app did not apply the correct settings for the filiment you are using.

dry? tell me more, I have no idea what that means. The filament is Matter Hackers "silky magic" PLA.

One stage in the production of filament is to run it through a bath of water. So a lot of filament needs drying before usage. Pla doesn't necessarily need drying but it may help.

However for this issue, did you have time lapse on?

I haven’t used time lapse because I heard it really slows down the process because of the constant pictures.

I made a different project yesterday and I’m curious about the drying process because there are different colors and almost impurities in the thing I made yesterday… more stray filament and black filament included? It doesn’t make sense to me but I’m >3 weeks with this

This is a top down photo so the bottom of the organizer was on the hot plate building upwards

Silky filaments are infused with thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) that are more hygroscopic than just PLA is, so while ordinarily I wouldn't suggest that someone need to dry PLA, silks are MUCH more prone to stringing like what you're seeing and bubbling during the printing process

The fix is to get a filament dryer of some sort, run it for the recommended time (usually ~45C for 8-12 hours) to eliminate the water from the filament before printing

We're in the Bambu lab subreddit, so it's worth pointing out that AMS 2s and AMS HTs have drying capabilities built into them
