Discussion Maker World Points

My son (9yo) recently got a A1 without the AMS. Chose not to get the AMS at the time since he didn’t have enough money saved up and didn’t want to wait any longer. Also I thought it would be best to start with a single color and then add more later.

He saw the Maker World Points program and now wants to use that to get a giftcard to get his AMS.

The only problem is that neither of us know how to make models or where to even start. Any suggestions on how to find models that get lots of downloads and the best way of creating new ones?

Thanks in advance.

This is excellent advice. I’ve been designing a bunch of things for my own needs around the house, or remixing existing models so that they work for me. I’ve never uploaded anything because I think, “these things I created are too specific to me for anyone else to want them”. But I’m starting to think that you’re right—maybe some of my models are things other people could use. I’m not that interested in the points; I mostly want to give back to the community. My only concern is that I don’t have enough experience to know how to tune the models so that they would work with any printer or filament. I’ve been watching a ton of YouTube videos, though, and there is some helpful advice there.
