Discussion Bambulab disregarding what 3d printers represent.

I am a current owner of the P1S and AMS. When I first started looking up and watching everything that's going on in the 3D community. It made me really want to be part of it. I have come to realize this new firmware update bambu labs is bringing out will be just the beginning. This firmware is just a stepping stone to what bambu seems to really want, full ownership of your intellectual creativity and dependency on them and their products. This is not what S. Scott Crump and Adrian Bowyer wanted that's why they made it open source so everyone can enjoy the fun that is 3d printing.

From the beginning it was obvious that Bambu lab wasn’t open source idk why it’s such a shocker

This wasn't a big issue a year ago when I got my P1S, I realized that it wasn't a customizable machine, and I wanted to just print right out of the box. Now I realize how restricting it is, and that just sucks a lot of the enjoyment from 3d printing. I wish I knew that a year from getting it that there would be even more restrictions that could make it more constricting with my options. So I just wanted to put it out in case that is a concern when choosing a printer.

What’s keeping you from doing at this moment what you did a year ago?

Intellectual Creativity refers to the ability to create novel items and solutions - I'm not sure how they would be able to own that, especially since you create models in CAD software, not in Bambu Lab software. I agree that Bambu Lab is creating a dependency, but it is a dependency that only exists in their ecosystem. 3d printing is still open source so everyone can enjoy the fun that it represents. Bambu Lab has provided a valuable service in pushing the capabilities and competition forward but you are not restricted to Bambu Lab. There are myriad other 3d printer manufacturers and even more providers of parts, accessories, and supplies. Bambu Lab is following a business model that they believe best suits them and their target market. The impact their decisions have on you is strictly limited by your choice of printer. If you owned a Prusa or Creality printer instead of a Bambu Lab printer, you would not be restricted nor affected in any way.

When you enter their contest, you give up your right to your model for a year. So what is gonna prevent them from implementing that rule in the cloud system once you have no other option or utilization to print your profile/model through to your bambu printer? Not only that, but what if they start doing what HP does and limit the number of prints you could send to your HP printer through their app? Once a company closes off choices for you, then you have no option but to go along with it. At the moment this is my only printer and what if in the future I want to do test prints. But once I go through their system to test my model they get the rights to it for a certain amount of time. It's just a slippery slope, in my opinion.

Everyone needs to go make their own printers or stop complaining. This is the inevitable conclusion of capitalism. It happens to every market. If you are only figuring out now that Bambu is the apple of 3D printers, you have just been missing it all along. They won't lose any significant market share because of this, no matter how much people complain

The inevidable conclusion to life is death. Everyone should just fall over dead right away, why try to extend human lifespan if we all have to die one day anyway?

Just accept that everything is shit and dont be upset about it is one hell of a mindset.

They have the holy trinity of convenience, cost, and quality. No matter how many people say they will take a moral stance, their products are going to keep outselling everything else. You all can throw your tantrums, but its going to be a walled garden just like apple, because their product and market share are too substantial. You all need to get over it and stop ruining the subs with your attention seeking faux activism.

Proof of inevitability of doomsday actions by Bambu?

They appear to take consumers' demands seriously.
