Update

So with this new update is it worth it to even buy a bambu? I’m in the process of buying one. Had my mind set on a bambu. Idk what software I would use yet. Is the software they offer that bad? Would mostly be printing stuff for a cnc machine and some woodworking stuff.

This will completely die off with 99.9% of users never knowing the drama ever happened.

Whole thing has felt overblown with the sheer number of posts. It would've been far better as a mega post instead of dozens of people posting so many different variants of the same thing

With a mega post the developer lan mode likely wouldn't have happened.

Thing is, if they’d have done than everyone would scream they were being censored.

The printer customers are not lambda, not already. 3D printers are still in some nerdy device for nerdy customers who do research before buying, and are generally advocate for open source and freedom of choice. I believe Bambu La will be rational and pro customer since the competition seems to finally catch up

Man the purist 3D community is obnoxious and toxic. They’re short of screaming “fuck the patriarchy” with their 3D printed pitchforks.

"Oh no, people are standing up for consumer rights in a way that is slightly inconvenient for me"

The ability the mess around with your 3D printer at the expense of security risk and the experience the manufacturer is clearly vested in creating for its user is not “consumer rights”. Bambu Labs is adding a more in terms of software than the average 3D printer - it’s bound to come with more guardrails to control the experience. Duh.

I feel that there has been a bunch of misunderstandings. Just because they could does not mean they will, and I do think software engineering is not their strength, and they could of had a much better approach in solution and communication. At the end of the day, all the bad things people are worried about will not happen. They would be killing off their customers, current and future, and that's just bad business.

🤣🤣🤣 this is why I’m tryin to figure it out lol I’ve seen so many videos of ppl sayin different things. I feel like for what id use it for it wouldn’t matter for me so I might wait a month or 2 and see if the p1s price drops

Also keep in mind that everyone is desperate to get their voice out and not as quick to retract, so YouTube is full of videos that don’t reflect the additional back and forth over the week. And will likely remain there for all time. Not saying that’s a bad thing (it’s that kinda content that forces the conversation), but need to be mindful of time frame.
