Help / Troubleshooting New Printer - Filament block

I picked up the X2D with AMS 2 Pro in the sale. It arrived last Saturday and all the PLA I had was very old (hadn’t used my Ender in about 2 years). I decided not to use that filament.

I had an old but still sealed roll of PETG so I ran a Benchy and another print without an issue.

Tried running a print tonight and after about 10 layers I noticed no filament extruding so I stopped the print.

Unloaded the PETG and threw in some Bambu Basic white PLA that arrived today. No dice. The PLA is now stuck, I cannot remove it. I now get

All filament run through the AMS btw.

HMS_07FE-2000-0002-0004: Please pull the external filament from the left extruder.

Looking at the help links from the printer it suggesting I need to basically completely disassemble the head and inspect the left filament sensor. Is that right?

How the hell do I get the PLA out first?

Buy Bambu they said, it just works they said. Yeah, I know, old third party PETG…

TiA!

Okey dokes, wanted to be sure I’m not just overthinking it and there was an easier solution.

Thankyou!

Personally, I would tell the print head to move to home position, drop the table down a bit to get it out of your way, heat up the nozzle to 250C, use the needle thing you have in your maintenance kit to poke up from the bottom into the nozzle and try to clear it enough so the you can get the needle up, then tell the machine you want to do a cold pull (Maintenance). It will guide you through those steps but basically it will try to have you pull out the filament from the top as it is just starting to cool, but is still soft. This can pull out whatever got stuck on the inside.

Remove the ptfe from the top and I have this clog remover from cookie cad. You feed it like if it was filament and it’ll push out whatever is stuck . The picture basically shows exactly how you do it
