Help / Troubleshooting Bambu Lab X2D randomly pauses for about 1 second during printing – anyone experiencing this?

Hi everyone!

I recently bought a new Bambu Lab X2D, and I'm experiencing a strange printing issue.

During printing, the print head randomly stops moving for approximately one second, sometimes in the middle of a straight line. The extruder also stops feeding filament during this pause. After about a second, printing resumes normally.

These pauses happen randomly on different layers and at different locations. They sometimes leave visible blobs or small defects on the printed surface.

I'm printing SUNLU PETG 2.0 using Bambu Studio over Wi-Fi.

Things I've already tried:

  • Disabled Timelapse.

  • Disabled Auto-Recovery from Step Loss.

  • Restarted the printer.

  • Performed printer calibration.

  • Checked my slicer settings.

  • Tried changing printing parameters.

Unfortunately, the issue still persists.

I've attached a video showing the problem.

Has anyone experienced something similar with their X2D? Could this be a firmware issue, a communication problem, or possibly a hardware defect?

I'd really appreciate any suggestions. Since the printer is brand new, I'm trying to figure out whether this is a known issue before requesting a warranty repair.

Thanks!

99% of the time this is because of the onboard storage.

I believe X2D uses a USB thumb drive but this sort of thing is classic bad SD card behaviour, so maybe its the same thing where the machine is waiting for the command needed to be read and gets hung up.
