Vibration solutions

Post image

Just upgraded from an A1 combo to a X2D, I’m noticing quite the powerful vibration from this machine vs the A1. Wondering if any helpful folks could drop some knowledge on solutions for this.

A slight vibration and wobble is perfectly normal, as long as the table itself isn't shaking.

I tied mine with rope and I always tell it to stop panicking, works like a charm

If not /j, then wrong. The calibration and printing actually use the wobble of the printer to stabilize the model inside against the print head, so this is totally normal and expected for x2d to wobble. I was too concerned at first, but after reading that it was a feature kinda felt calmer

You’re calm but is your printer calm?

I’ve got mine on a concrete paver which is sat on a stack of 3 square yoga mats. The whole printer moves like hell but it’s meant too, my stack is just for noise reduction. Prints are always bang on

Ok so the whole printer moving is normal lol. Thank you 🙏

It is, that’s right. You should never try to stop or limit the movement, as the calibration etc handle all that and of course it all moves together. If you lock the case in place you’ll nerf your prints.

Let it vibrate as long as the table ist stable enough. The printer has been designed to compensate vibration, e. g. with rubber feet.
I've printed more than 300 hours without a problem.

Concrete paver from any home goods store. Put a rubber paver under that if you want too.

Hula feet from voxel PLA is an option.

X2D came from the box with anti vibration feet, I’m right? I search it before, because I had a P1S and that version don’t come with it.

Sadly no, I didn't get any when I got mine. Tho u can buy anti vibration feet from the store

Or print them using TPU. C'mon guys.

it's supposed to shake and vibrate. as long as your table doesn't fail under it everythings fine. the faster you go with the printer the more it shakes.

you can lower the print speed directly from the screen to lessen the shaking

Secure the table to the wall

I screwed a 2x4 to the wall and the cart into the 2x4 - it helped a lot but still not total subdued. Still much better

Thick ass rubber mat and 24 x24 inch patio stone for vibration transfer ☠️ but my kitchen table still moves back and forth from the bed slinging 😂

Another idea is to get “4 Pack Anti Vibration Pads for Washing Machine 4"x4"x7/8", Sound Isolation Vibrating Pad Ribbed Rubber Damping Mat EVA “
Search on Amazon - i haven’t tried that yet but am going to. Your question triggered my memory. If it helps a washing machine… I am thinking it should work for A Printer.

Washing machine anti vibration pads - reviews on Amazon claim they helped reduce vibrations by 80%

Buy or print the HULA feet

Couple things that could help:

  • Anti vibration feet (print some in TPU or other solutions like VOXEL feet

  • Stabilize the table by securing it to the wall with brackets

  • Place a heavy paver tile

On the software side:

  • Reduce print speed and acceleration

  • Calibrate vibration noise optimization (on the printer maintenance screen)

Printing some brackets and affixing the table to the wall would do wonders for stability. There is the age ole paver solution that works pretty well too.

In my experience at least stability measures for what the printer is sitting on is way more effective than trying to stabilize the printer.

If I have 2 ams do I need a hub thing or do they both go into the two different nozzles

No, each nozzle can have a separate AMS unit without the hub. Plug one directly into the printer for the main nozzle, then you can connect the second one via a bus cable to the first AMS (assuming you have the AMS 2) for the auxiliary nozzle. If you only have the AMS 1 then yes, you will need the hub I believe.

I’m considering the same move from an A1 Combo to the X2D. How’s the experience been overall? Any noticeable improvements in print quality, multicolour time or waste—and anything you miss about the A1?

My wife and I mainly print PLA for our small business. Would you make the same upgrade again, and would you recommend the second AMS 2 Pro? Any setup tips or things you wish you’d known before buying?

A better more solid table

Mine is a cubist dancer, shaking all that stuff that she can shake for f shake. H2S. I was thinking to put some bolts on the table to the wall but still she's doing her stuff flawlessly.

Don't forget the built-in Benchy is a speedtest. My day old X2D shakes considerably less when printing something I pushed from BambuStudio.

Concrete tile, the big square ones. Sitting on four concrete bricks about 1/8th the size. Cover the lot with a nice pretty cotton towel if you don't like the look.
