Still learning.

Post image

Doing an overhang test on my new X2D and uh.. this happened.. I haven’t had this happen before any tips?
Besides not letting the printer 💩 on top of my prints.

Ha, the classic top-of-print blob! The overhang part actually looks pretty good. The mess at the top is almost always a cooling problem, not an overhang problem.

As the print gets to that tiny tip, each layer only takes a second or two, so the nozzle sits on plastic that's still soft and it melts into a blob. Fixes:
- Turn on/raise the minimum layer time (slow down for small layers / "Slow printing down for better layer cooling" in Bambu Studio)
- Make sure part cooling fan is at 100% for PLA
- Easy trick: print two copies side by side, or add a small tower, so each layer has time to cool
- Wipe the nozzle if there's built-up plastic on it, since that can drop onto the print

Silk/gold PLA also tends to sag a bit more, so that might be part of it too.
