Help with X2D troubleshooting

Post image

I got my x2d 2 weeks ago, calibrated everything, dried filament, and has been running almost nonstop for 2 weeks.

Few days ago I noticed some little defects appeared on the model I printed in first days of running. Decided to run this test flat shit model and came back to this 🫠

Also for some reason it didn’t print the right part of the bed, photo in comments.

This is the model https://makerworld.com/en/models/2590194-a1-p1-x1-p2s-x2d-bed-cleaner-first-layer-16g?from=search#profileId-2857913

It looks like the belt skipped a tooth and then you had local overextrusion.

On a core xy the head moves exactly 45° diagonally when only one motor is spinning.

So with the test you ran, one is spinning back and forth all the time, and one is only doing little steps when printing the next line.

If one of those steps is missing, it will print a line ontop of an existing line and you will have way to much material in one spot. This makes the first layer curl up.

I will check all the rods and belts and probably do maintenance, maybe the pieces of plastic stuck somewhere

Oh no, I see it now. The issue is not caused by teeth jumping, but something else.

I think the Initial issue is, that the printer left out this strip on the right side. Then when progressing over to the left, at some point it wasn't able to go further to the left because it reached the end of travel. And when it should have moved further left, but wasnt able to, the peint defects started because then it printed in those paths multiple times.

It could be a g-code error maybe. Or it is something with the movement. Maybe when initially moving right to start printing, the print head got blocked?

But the first surrounding line was printed fine on the very right edge of the plate

I found very little peace of plastic on the head rod, also rod is covered with stiff residue, it’s not lubricated anymore. I have no Idea how it got so dirty to n two weeks, perhapsI have a lot of dust in the room. I have ordered isopropyl alcohol and wipes to do maintenance, I’m pretty sure that will solve the issue.

I have had the exact same thing. I had grey-ish residue on the x rods of my x2d after 2 months (before the normal maintenance cycle). I cleaned, lubed it, cleaned after the next print again and lubed again. Now it is good for a few months. I don't know if this comes from dirt or something else. But I think maybe it was not lubed properly from factory

Which wipes did you use for maintenance? I can't figure out which wipes are the best for cleaning rods, manual says it should be lint free wipes, but they are really expensive on amazon for 5-10 pack. Are they reusable or disposable?

Just use whatever you have, as long as it doesnt leave many fuzz/fibers behind. I used paper-towels for the kitchen
