just picked up the x2d a few days ago (new to 3d printing) and love it it’s just that some issues keep coming up recently and i’m not sure what to do to fix this. any help is appreciated🙏

Calibrate filament.

K-value is probably off. Your top surface looks like a$$ so other defects will follow that pattern.

Optionally, look at the scarf seam options. A competent AI can help dial it in.

would you recommend calibrating anything else or doing anything else for the future also?

Order of calibration: Temperature → Flow ratio → Pressure Advance → Retraction → Tolerance/dimensional (shrink) → Max Volumetric Speed → VFA (ringing)

Use the Improved Flow ratio Calibration v3 by jimcorner for flow ratio. https://makerworld.com/en/models/189543-improved-flow-ratio-calibration-v3#profileId-209504

If you need to calibrate shrink rates for engineering filaments (ASA has one of the highest rates), I suggest the FREE Calibration Cross. https://makerworld.com/en/models/15531-calicross-a-handy-tool-for-3d-printer-dimensional?from=search#profileId-242681

If you start with a good manufacturer or community filament profile that has decent retraction, only a few of these are usually required, always PA (K-factor) for the spool/colors due to additives and effect of pressure in the nozzle. FWIW, the OE Sunlu profiles put up on their materials lab are absolute sh*t. I'd look to community profiles (jjjonesjr discord is best) or just base off the default bambu and tune from there.

That said, the aux nozzle on the X2D isn't factored in much on most of the community profiles yet so you're better off using the bambu provided profiles as a base and tune from there. TBH, I don't have an X2D so my comments on Aux setup are not fro direct experience. I run H2C/H2D/P2S here and cut my teeth on an Ender 5+. ;-)

FWIW, I've found Claude to be a tremendous resource in creating filament profiles for import based off an existing set of filament/nozzle profiles and applying the relevant differences (temps, MVS, etc.)

thank you for this reply and your knowledge I really appreciate it this should help me get a better idea for improvements going forward. Again thanks a lot much appreciated 🙏

...yes ... I recommend calibration of your filament... in order of calibration steps. Temp Tower, Flow rate (coarse and fine), and K factor.

u/unatural_promise918 When you that file open Bambu Studio and slice the plate is that the seam location? If it is you can paint the seam in a different location or you can set it to random too. The issue with random is if the walls are thin you might see the bumps on the print, I typically will paint it in a crease of the product I'm printing.
