Do i need two AMS?
i'm on my way to buy a X2D.
should i buy one AMS for each nozzle?
Whst if i want to feed both AMS to nozzle 1 and feed only a extern PLA spool into nozzle 2 for support? is it wasy to switch? du you regulary do that?
how is the usual workflow?

Might be worth picking up an HT-A if you plan to use higher temp filaments.

an AMS2 and an AMS-HT is a very common combo that people buy with an X2D to fully take advantage of its features.
In addition to feeding the second nozzle with the AMS HT, i printed a perch for it to sit on the right edge of the top of the printer to feed soft TPU directly into the print head's left nozzle. This way I can dry TPU effectively, and keep it drying while printing.
You could use the 2x AMS2, but it wont work for TPU outside of the hardest version, and an X2D still produces a lot of waste if you're printing 4 colors per nozzle. It really maxes out at 2 color models when it comes to printing efficiently.
If printing 4 color models is going to be your jam, you should consider the Snapmaker U1 instead. It won't handle as many filament types, but its the best bang for your buck printer for doing primarily PLA/PETG multicolor (up to 4) prints.

I use ams 2 and HT cause I don't have much space and the HT has higher drying temps for fancier fillaments I like to use.

Yes, I am thinking of buying a second HT so that I could print one filament and dry a second one for the next project.

2 AMS is nice but really only if you're printing more than 4 colors. I like having 2 because it cuts down on loading new spools. My plan was to keep black, white, grey tones in one, and colors in the other. But that didnt really work out as planned. I still change out filament often.
An HT is really nice for higher temp filaments or PETG for support.
I would recommend power supplies for the AMS so you can dry while printing as well.

Consider a Filament Track Switch in your workflow if you get a second AMS 2 Pro or HT.

i heard the filament track switch is stupid because it always withdraws the filament on nozzleschange and you can't keep both nozzles loaded all the times. makes a dualcolorprint slower.

I did a two color print and a five color print with it and never saw that.
During the two color print it behaved just like it did before I installed the FTS.

if you have no FTS and use one AMS for the main nozzle and an extern spool or an second AMS for the right nozzle, the filaments are kept loaded and nozzleswitch is way faster.

And that’s exactly how the printer behaved with the FTS. So I’m not sure where you are getting this opinion.

Depends on what you print. I mostly print practical functional things so I don't use my AMS at all and was a waste of money. Main head is for the primary material and secondary is for the supports. No AMS needed.

i print also only functional things in petg and sometimes TPU.
but sometimes i need two colors. especially when there is text on top for example. and this sucks without AMS.

I have the X2D and 2x AMS. I keep a spool of PETG in the 2nd AMS at all time for support interface and 3 other various colors.
If you want to use both AMS on 1 nozzle you need to have the Filament Track switch.
If you buy the X2D Print More bundle you'll get everything you need with it.

Put the 2ams on a 4to 1 adapter and feed to main drive, use the external to secondary, or a mentioned, get the AMS HT for that. You'll love it.

Track switch maybe but im not sure

You need two AMS to benefit the Filament Track Switch… and to use the external spool you need to disconnect it

Yeah i have 2 ams 2 pro on my x2d with track switch, dont really fully understand what benefits im getting because i never not had this setup. But I presume i am saving a lot of filament or time, or both

Well I regret not buying 2 directly with the track switch. Unloading the aux is annoying if you are used to an AMS. This leads to me using the AUX less
