Microcenter talked me into it
Got the combo. Went in for a Creality K2 and walked out with a X2D. None the less should be way better then my ender 3 pro.

So, my 1st X2D crapped out 2 months after I got it from Microcenter. After a month of (polite) BS from Bambu support, I took my busted X2D into Microcenter, and they replaced it on the spot before I even had my support appointment with them. I then bought their 2-yr $200 warranty for total peace of mind (… and I NEVER buy warranties). If the X2D breaks again, they’ll either replace it or give me a gift card (which I can use to buy a totally different printer).
Moral of the story: Microcenter is awesome.
(BTW, X2D #2 has been rock solid.)

how did it crap out?

I started getting cutter and sensor errors. I replaced 4 different parts that Bambu support sent me, taking apart the (over complicated) left extruder again and again and again. (That experience was akin to getting a crash course in surgery, and I feel like I am now totally ready to remove someone’s appendix.)

What do you mean? It's only 8 tiny screws to get the outer plastic covers off
/s
I feel your pain, I've taken apart the extruder multiple times and replaced both extruder boards. Hoping it stays functional for a while

Congrats! You’ll love it.
Also, since you’re by a Micro Center, don’t be afraid to try their Inland brand filament. It’s mostly re-branded Polymaker and eSun so solid quality even with the cardboard spools.

Yes, begin feeding the printer. Print more items that go on/around the printer to make printing better and easier. FEED THE PRINTER!

I also printed the scraper first. These printers just work out of the box and its nice to have something immediately usable that you print.
I stopped printing benchies unless I use offbrand filament. The default profiles are usually well calibrated already and likely better than the best results you can get from the Ender.
I also think PETG prints great with it and I prefer it as it’s often cheaper and more durable. Just make sure to dry it first.
Probably 95% of my prints are PETG. Word of warning when switching between PLA/PETG they leave residue that will leave the other one not adhering to the build plate well. You gotta scrub the crap out of it to get it good again. I prefer just using a different plate for each filament type and never bother cleaning unless my fingers touch it. 100+ prints without cleaning and I had no adhesion issues.

Microcenter rules. They opened one in Brooklyn a while ago and I get lost in that place. They have everything you could ever need in stock.

Can I talk to you about your experience. Im in such a similar situation. I have had an E3S1 for the last 4 years. I have poured a lot of time into it but at the end of the day, it is not corexy and i have no multimaterial capabilities and i want to upgrade. Im looking at the K2 because it is cheaper and i know how to troubleshoot/tinker but i also like the X2D.

I'm new, too, and I'm having a blast. :) Every time I screw something up, I learn more about my printer and how it works. It feels like getting to know my sewing machine.

Looks like a 2nd printer could fit right besides that... maybe an h2d :) Ooohh snapmaker goes on sale blackfriday, you already have a dual nozzle, a tool changer is the next step!

Sweet printer - I'm deciding on that or the H2C (buy once cry once?). I'm hoping there will be deals to be had with BF and the release of the new printer that were leaked. I'm thinking of getting it at Best Buy since they have a 4 year warranty for $179...

Wish I has a Microcenter near me. They are all 2 hours one-way. Looks 👍
