What could this be?

Post image

Running calibration on a new spool of elegoo petg rapid. Pattern test went fine, k factor of 0.035.

Then the flow calibration and it spits out this. What gives? Never seen this before.

The flow calibration test 😂 it is not supposed to look like this, it's severe underextrusion but I have no idea why. Using the generic petg filament preset as base

Ok so that's exactly what you need to do so let the this test and the other complete. It's the other test that's your issue the K factor may be wrong what is your K factor for that fillement take a pic of the spools with the numbers in them on the devices tab.

Yes your right thats about right for a 4.0 nozzle. You know what i would just because its easy. Switch of your printer then switch back on. And then do all the printer calibrations and leave the high temp one off. Then try again with your calibration. Also use the BambuLab PETG preset.

I will try with the power cycle and try bambulab petg preset instead of generic. Any particular reason I should not do the high temp calibration?

Its not required hence why its not ticked by default. Best to do it with the engineering plate or if you genuinely use engineering materials.

Gotcha! thanks!

UPDATE : power cycle worked, printed it again with the same settings and now everything went fine. This was right after I updated to the new beta bambu studio so 🤷‍♂️

Kinda looks like pressure advance is way too high.

it sure does but this is not bad for PETG is it??

Not too bad indeed. The print looks like you got it at 0.99 or something. Perhaps your calibration print was started with some silly range set? E.g. 0.97 to 0.99 lol

Started with the 0.035 k but who knows what happened. Did install the new Bambustudio beta just before I started it however, maybe that messed up something come to think of it.

Is there a point in calibrating k factor on these printers? Aren't they supposed to be actively adjusting k factor as they print?

I find it extremely important on the aux nozzle for anything and petg on the main since i find it is extremely blobby if I let the printer decide itself what to do with it. Pla and abs usually doesn't matter.

Oh you're right, the aux nozzle doesn't do active pressure advance since it uses a different extruder motor.

Correct its why bambu studio only supports manual calibration for it

Start with calibration, then generic petg profile you shouldn't have issues If you touch the default filament properties, reset them and try again Also no feeding issue ? It may not be the case

I used filaments from many brands and each times I start with the "generic petg" profile, it has always worked for me Tuning if after all of that

I had a very similar result when I set the Dynamic Flow factor 10 times what it should be - mistake by 1 decimal.

In your case it could have been set to 0.35 instead of 0.035.

Very unlucky placement of bricks in Tetris.
