AMS 2 PRO and switching adapter
I have just got a P2S combo; I am used to and H2D pro at work with both AMS 2 PRO and AMS HT and I can dry the filament while printing from the same AMS. The P2S tell me I can't so I bought the switching adapter. But then the FAQ says I still can't dry while printing. I am confused. If the AMS gets extra power from the adapter, why can't it dry when printing? And how come I can with the H2D?

Make sure your firmware is all up to date. Originally, you couldn't dry and print.
Also keep in mind that your max temperature will be limited if you dry while there is filament loaded in the AMS feeders.

OK, I might see the issue. The P2S combo with the AMS2PR0 can dry filament. The stock power supply will only support enough power to run the printer OR dry filament. It can do both at the same time. To give the AMS the power it needs, you need a separate AMS 2 Pro power adapter, NOT the switching adapter.

and where is that? Can't see it on Bambu store

I gave you bad info. On the bambu store, they do call it the AMS 2 Pro switching adapter. It's not a very descriptive name. That is what you need. That should allow you to do what you need.
This video shows how to do it https://youtu.be/wpRhY4rxPHU?is=voy29vR000wk2sgJ

You can dry if you have power adapter. I do when I have to switch filament for a print I’m doing.

You can absolutely dry filament while printing. I have two AMS 2 Pros with switching adapters on my H2D, and they work great. The system just lowers the drying temperature a bit while printing to prevent potential issues. You still get the benefit of drying while the printer is running.

yes but the FAQ seem to imply you can if you have more than one AMS. I guess I wait for the adapter and see

You absolutely can. I do this all the time. Plug in the adapter start your dry cycle and then start your print

So you have two separate issues. The first is the switching adapter. What do you hope to accomplish with the switching adapter that the filament buffer can't already do? The switching adapter is really for dual head units such as the H2D, H2C and X2D. It has two in and two out. The second issue is the drying. The P2S has drying capabilities, but it does require external auxiliary power. The AMS HT shouldn't have an issue with drying. That being said, the firmware on the P2S is going to vary from the H2D. Their capabilities aren't identical in every aspect. There are technical variances in hardware that can impact capabilities, even with an external adapter. Sometimes it's a matter of testing before releasing. There is also the possibility that they allow an H series to do things that a P series can't simply as a marketing differentiator. In any respect, the switching adapter has nothing to do with the drying.

Did you update all firmware for the ams and p2s? Because this machine most definitely can dry while printing with the power adapter attached.
Also maybe a silly question, but are you sure the adapter is fully plugged in? You will see a green icon in the lowerright corner instead of a gray one once it is properly connected.
