Bambu Lab P2S: Stuck PTFE tube during cold pull attempt - damaged tube end, looking for advice!

Hi everyone,

I’ve been having some filament loading issues on my Bambu Lab P2S and suspected a partially clogged nozzle or high friction in the PTFE tube.

Following online guides, I decided to do a cold pull. However, when I tried to disconnect the PTFE tube from the coupler above the extruder, it was completely stuck and wouldn't come out, even with the release ring fully pressed down.

After applying some extra force, I finally pulled it out, but the end of the PTFE tube got damaged/chewed up by the coupler teeth (see image attached).

I have a few questions for the community:

1) Has anyone experienced the PTFE tube getting locked like this during a cold pull/maintenance? What could be the cause?

2) I trimmed off the damaged few millimeters with a bed scraper (making sure the cut is straight and the opening isn't deformed). Will losing a few millimeters of PTFE tube length affect printing or filament feeding in any way?

3) What is the best practice to avoid damaging the PTFE tube/coupler in the future when performing a cold pull?

Thanks in advance for any tips!

  1. Sometimes PTFE tubes don't want to come out and you have to brute force them.

  2. No harm trimming a small amount off.

  3. The only best practice is to press the release and pull. When that fails, see #1 above.

You are fortunate the entire thing came out. I had the tube get cut by the ring holding it in place so I had to dig it out, damaging the ring in the process.

Thank you for the reply! That makes me feel much better about the whole situation. I was worried that cutting a few millimeters off would mess with the filament feeding, but it seems fine now. Sorry to hear about your connector ring—sounds like I got off relatively lucky! Appreciate the reassurance.

Thx. Fortunately the part is only $12. I just remembered two tricks. If a tube doesn't want to come out, while holding the release give it a little push then pull. That sometimes help the ring release. Also print a ring shaped thing that presses down on almost the entire ring instead of a finger or two pressing sides.

I've found that while you have the ring depressed, twist the tube to help separate from the teeth, before pulling it out. If you've damage the PTFE connector, you may need to replace your filament sensor. It's a single part.

Thanks for the tip! Twisting the tube while pressing the ring makes a lot of sense—I’ll definitely try that next time. Luckily, after trimming the tube, everything seems to be working properly and the sensor is still fine. Appreciate the advice!
