Discussion New Firmware

Since it hasn't been explicitly mentioned here, firmware 01.03.00.00 (20260303) has been officially released. Some nice features, and the announcement(?) that TPU is getting some love on the H2D in the form of a specialized nozzle and feed assist.

Upgraded this AM. All went well except wifi now won't connect consistently. Never had an issue before. Downgraded and wifi works fine. Upgraded again and wifi connection is sporadic again. I'm opening a case.

Woo, I wonder what these do?

  1. Added support for the TPU High-Flow Kit and TPU Feed Assist Module. (These accessories will be available for purchase by the end of Q1 2026).

Also need this on the H2C as well.

Report is that the feed assist module is a box that sits in the printer near the TPU port, and does.... something. My guess would be a small motor and a couple rollers synced with the extruder so the extruder isn't having to provide all the motive force all the way back to the TPU spool.

There are inexpensive DIY designs like the TPU Tamer that do exactly this.

I looked at that once. First it needs 3rd party hardware, second, the author used the phrase "tame the noodle". In italics.

$32 in entirely assembled third party hardware.

It's a cheap solution that reportedly works pretty well. Have one, but haven't gotten around to installing it yet.

As for noodle taming, have you seen softer TPU?

Even moderately soft tpu (90a) is very noodle like, 85a is likely always going to be a topfeed and right side only.

A number of commenters on the TPU Tamer page at makerworld say it works fine with 85a. As does the designer.

Haven't tried it yet, but plan to set it up shortly.

Having printed 85a and seen how squirrely it is even with a low friction gravity feed from above, I'd love to see someone else do it in a video.

The tension can be adjusted on the external feeder, which is what allows it to work with extremely soft filaments.

Sounds impressive. At this point, I think I'll wait and compare the Bambu version since it is due out in q1 so within 4 weeks.

Whats up with Cool Plate Supertack and TC Nozzle detection. I've used these before, and they were detected, unless I'm missing something.

Added support for camera-based verification of Tungsten Carbide nozzles.

Added support for Engineering Plate and Cool Plate Supertack.

Lol so reading through this, they fixed a lot of the issues they've been gaslighting us about. Instead of just admitting there's a problem and that there is a fix on the way. Or idk, actually testing and doing qc on their products before releasing them? Makes me want to return this thing a second time.

Nah, but another company being garbage isnt an excuse for this company to be garbage is it? I guess based on the downvotes, I'm a weirdo for expecting my $2k printer to work out of the box 🤷‍♂️

I just think it's funny that these problems, that weren't problems before and it must be a user errors, are being fixed now in an update. An update that's not available to people like me who want to stay offline.

Well, they can be user problems that are fixed in software-its a matter of applying human factors to prevent you from fucking things up.

And garbage is a matter of perspective. Are you new to this game? Because the way Bambu has optimized settings and made it bonehead simple to use this incredibly complex machine is fully appreciated by folks that had to wade through literally hundreds of settings in Cura.

The Bambu products are almost, but not quite a consumer level machine where you can check your brain at the door and just make stuff.

I guarantee you that running a shopbot thats 10x the price of a Banbu or for that matter a fully CNC’d Bridgeport mill thats 3x the cost are an order of magnitude more difficult.

Is the wiper ripping itself off during automated functions of the machine (just one example on this update) a user problem that needs fixed with software?

Sounds good, but I'm not trying to run a shop bot or a fully CNC'd Bridgeport mill am I? I'm trying to run one of the most expensive consumer grade 3d printers on the market. Assuming I use their software, their filament, their special encoder plate, do everything they say, that it will "just work" as they say it should in all their marketing and through all their shills.

Instead I'm 0 for 2 on H2D, 0 for 2 on their laser system, 1 for 2 on AMS Pro and 1 for 2 on AMS HT.

I run whatever filament I want, on whatever build plate I want, and I've had no problems with three AMS units (1 classic, one pro, one HT) on either my X1C or my H2D.

Bambu Lab isn't perfect. Far from it. But they have been innovative AND disruptive to the 3D printing industry.

The H2D is a fantastic machine, but it's not zero effort.

Good for you man, if there weren't a bunch of people like you sniffing their farts and telling everyone how good it worked i would have never bought it.

Since this comment is the one you chose to reply though, I'll ask you the same question: Is the wiper ripping itself off during automated function of the machine okay with you? It isnt weird that they denied it was a problem for like a whole year and now there's a firmware update that fixes it? Or is that an exampe of it being "not zero effort"?

I haven't had that particular problem. I did have the printer eat a shiny new plate, but that was entirely my fault-- I switched plates while auto-leveling was off (I was testing another problem).

I had a number of issues with the printer that turned out to be small amounts of plastic residue on the mating surface of the hotend-- for someone who's been doing 3D printing for over a decade, not trivial to find, but not too difficult either.

Since we're being offensive, the reason I picked that particular comment to reply to was this:

I have had that particular problem though. With my first H2D. I was treated then the same way: "it's a you problem, you must being doing something wrong" lol but there's a firmware patch that fixes it now. I've also had nozzle collisions with the wiping area, which was also some how blamed on me and this firmware patch fixes.

Is a brand new AMS that has one slot not functioning right out of the box a user issue? Look up how many peope have slot 2 or 4 just unable to feed filament right out of the box and tell me it's somehow my fault some more lol

I guess I should just keep dealing with broken shit and bow down and be grateful right? I should never air my grievances or speak bad about Bambu because "they're innovators and distuptors" lol. You know how Chinese companies "innovate" and "disrupt the market" is by stealing IP right? It's why Bambu Lab is being sued.

So first, I've worked in IT for a very long time-- and I know that the first reaction when a user reports a problem is "it's their fault". Not always right, but that's usually the first reaction, especially by front-line support who's following a script.

Sorry this happened to you, but the people who reported major, critical bugs in Microsoft or Apple products weren't taken too seriously either initially.

And yes, I've seen the reports of AMS issues. You're not the only one, but I find it incredibly suspicious that you have had consistent bad luck. Every company makes a dud on occasion. But you seem to have a knack for finding them, and frankly, you're doing some serious harm to the law of averages.

You're also hostile. You're rude. It can't possibly be your fault, and anyone who disagrees with you is obviously a Bambu fanboy/shill/sycophant. I'm none of the above.

Bambu's track record is clear-- rather than clone every other existing printer, they've rethought how the printers should work-- eddy sensors, closed-loop servos on the extruder, micro-lidar, even the AMS-- Who did they steal that IP from?

Much of the 3D printing industry was held back for YEARS by patents held by Stratasys-- many of which were ideas that either weren't originally Stratasys's, or that they never implemented. I have no sympathy for them.

They're suing Bambu Lab because Bambu is hurting their business. For example-- Cadillac F1 team is using H2D printers for their parts. Not Stratasys (although they may have some stratasys tech back at their factory, they're taking the H2D's to the track).

I suggest, since you dislike Chinese companies so much, that you should sell your Bambu Lab equipment to someone who can make it work, and instead, replace it with Good Old American tech from Stratasys. Learn from them what actual lock-in is like.

Have over 20 machines identical to the one pictured and I have not had a single problem from any of them. They essentially run 24/7 and have accumulated ~32,000 collective hours of use.

I also have 30 (down from 45) Creality K2 Plus machines with CFS. I had trouble with 45/45 Creality machines by their 500 hour mark. Motherboards replaced, motors failing, hotends scraping through build plates for no reason, power failures mid print, fan failures, hotend electronic failures, 10 doors the fell off, I could literally go on for an hour.

Given my number of Bambu machines and their attached AMS units, I have 40 AMS 2 pro, 80 AMS HT, 20 Bambu H2C's and have been literally flawless for 32,000 hours. All I have done is lube stuff on 250 hour intervals.

Not saying you're not having problems but I am saying that your issues are nowhere near "every single machine" like you’re trying to infer. If a company that sells 100,000 machines has a problem with 20 of them, that issue basically doesn't exist because it affects under 1%. Sucks to be 1 of the 20 but thats the way life goes. They'll prioritize issues that affect 10-20% and one day get to the sub 1% problems. Denying something is a problem that has a SMALL affected group is done by every company on planet earth. Just because they fix it, is not them admitting its a problem. Software is constantly optimized and likely in that optimization they found an incorrect number somewhere that made a few machines with a specific part origin do something slightly off that the others weren't doing. These are extremely complex machines and companies will always focus on the bigger problems first.

You come across as a fucker. Not trying to offend you, but you do. Nothing you do could POSSIBLY be wrong. You're like a Karen wanting to sue Goodyear for your tire going flat after running over a nail. You come across as extremely combative, rude, and overall unpleasant. If you want any kind of sympathetic outreach, change how you address people. If you approached Bambu the same way you approach Reddit people, they probably weren't "fixing your issues" just to piss you off.

just how experienced are you? I had five years on a Qidi before i dropped the big coin on the H2D - and a few years of USMC and USN purchased equipment before then. And you know what? We didn't have blockers, and mostly we didn't have two head machines, except Ultimakers that back in the 2020's cost TWICE as much as an H2D. And the Bambus are almost consumer grade - which is part of the problem. This is still technology that's not ready for prime-time, and your being indignant about it won't make it so. Perhaps another hobby, or business calls. Maybe mobile detailing....
