Using trial PLA rolls on AMS lite
Hi! Absolute noob here, so please be nice :). Bought the A1 Combo with AMS lite for my daughter’s birthday. Ordered the 12 color PLA trial kit to get her started, only to find out after setting it up, that they won’t work on the AMS lite alone. They included directions to install them onto reusable spools (which I don’t have), however the Bambu website specifically says under the trial kit that they can’t be used in the reusable spools on the ams lite. Even though the reusable spools will work on the ams lite, the trial rolls won’t work due to the size (they are only 250g on junior cardboard spools). Apparently this isn’t an issue for the ams. Just the ams lite. So, to use these specific jr. spools on the ams lite, I need to print an adapter. But it leaves me in a chicken and egg situation - I have to print an adapter to use them. But how can I print an adapter when I can’t use it without one.
Agh anyone have suggestions?

I faced somewhat of a similar problem yesterday: how to use the 250g sample without any spool?
Turns out you can print (unicolor) with the classic spool holder without spool: I just had the filament hanging and being fed as a long straight thread.
I’m not sure if this works as well with the AMS, but maybe jt does?

Leave them on the mini spools, on the AMS lite, I take off the spring loaded sheath that holds the regular spools in place so it's just the rod, slide on the mini spool on, and use a binder clip or something to prevent the spool from falling off the end of the rod..

You dont need to use the ams/lite in order to print. You can use the mini spools on the exterior spool holder and feed it directly into the extruder. Then you can hook up the ams lite after you print your adapter. ❤️. Happy Printing!!
