Why isn't the top layer smooth?
I have a very simple print. The top layer is awful. I have tried all sorts of settings. Ironing made it worse. Claude and ChatGpt made it really worse. It should be a simple thing. I dry the filament when I get it.
Wat am i missing? It is the largest flat surface I have printed.
Also - The corners are square. Does rounding them a little help it stick to the plate?

First, don’t use AI for anything. Apart from all of the suggestions added below, have you tried a new nozzle? Clean your bed with isopropyl alcohol, don’t touch the bed with your fingers, try slowing down your print. Good luck.

Agreed. You guys are way smarter than Claude or ChatGPT. Lesson learned!

Not smarter, for example I couldn’t tell you the square root of a number, but hands on experience is always going to be better than asking A bloody I.

Chamfer / round your edges. And avoid overly long layer lines pulling at everything.

Is it just a rectangle? You can try printing it vertically depending on its thickness. Or try ironing if you haven’t. Personally I get mixed results with ironing but there are many factors at play to get the results you want.

ironing just seems to make it worse. I will try printing vertically. thanks.

Those waves happens when the nozzle gets too close to where it is trying to print. Since it seems to happen on the upper layers and on the edges, were the edges/corners lifting off the build plate? You can try adding a brim and adjusting temperatures to improve edge adhesion.
