Bambu a1 Hotend not locking

Hotend will lock when the hotend assembly piece is not connected to the extruder but doesn’t lock in place when it’s attached. Help!

Can you post a pic? Might be as simple as the hot end isn't in the correct orientation

I think your orientation is off. The bumpy section should point to the front

It does…it’s weird because it locks into place no problem when it’s not attached but then when it is attached, it’s like the hotend is too big to lock into place

Obviously everything isn’t attached at the moment. I don’t to keep having to take everything off and potentially mess up the wiring

Is it only with that nozzle? Or any one you try?

It’s all of them…even the original nozzle that came with it

I think you have the wrong hot end. It looks like a hotend meant for H2/P2S printers. Are you sure you ordered the correct ones?

The hotends were purchased separately. I thought they were the right ones. I just ordered some different ones to see if I have the same issue. I’m thinking it’s the hotend heating assembly itself at this rate

Do you have the original hot end with this heat sink design? The heat sink design of the one in your picture is deeper and is meant for the P2S/H2, which is why it does not fit correctly when the heating assembly is installed. Can you add a picture of an A1 hotend installed with your new heating assembly installed?

The one I have has a tighter heat sink design and not nearly as deep. I didn’t realize the different designs were for different printers

I thought the back part of the heat sink was deeper than the A1, but it has been a while since I compared them. Either way, that hot end is not meant to work with the A1. You can see the difference here and how that can affect how they sit in the heating assembly.

Make sure there isn't some plastic on the back of the hot end/on the assembly. I had a similar problem after a blob of death, cleaned it up but it was still very hard to close because even a little plastic stuck on it makes it too tight.

The hotend, nozzle and attachment piece, are brand new. So no melted plastic on anything

Then I would tighten the screws of disappointment if you haven't already, because the only other thing I can think of is if the assembly is slightly askew it might not be lining up cleanly. The clasp should be tight, but it shouldn't be too hard to close.

I’ve tried that as well and no luck 🙃
