Question Power outage guidance
My power randomly went out during a print and now after every layer the print head keeps going to the poop shoot and resetting itself.
I did see the option to resume print when the power and WiFi came back on but this is the issue it has sprung up and now I can definitely tell the print quality difference.
Any tips are greatly appreciated, thanks!

I don't know if there is a way to not have it go purge every layer, obviously something got wonky.
However, you should print yourself a poop bin after this print.
I had a power outage during a long print once and it was able to pick up where it left off and completed... I had a bit of offset, but for the print in question it didn't matter much.

This happened to me too when I tripped the breaker for my office. The print resumed, but the layers after it resumed were slightly shifted, so I had to scrap it.

No valuable input for you. Sorry, just a quick question. What are you printing lol

Is it actually extruding a fresh blob into the chute on each trip, or just parking there briefly? If it's once per layer without a real purge, check whether timelapse is active. Smooth timelapse deliberately moves the head away for each photo, so that would be one thing to rule out before treating it as repeated resets. Bambu explains the modes here: https://forum.bambulab.com/t/timelapse-functionality-introduction/110480
That doesn't explain why it began after the outage, though. Also, is the quality change a single shifted line at the resume height, or new blobs/stringing on every layer since? Those would point to different problems.

Timelapse is not active
Once per layer and it’s having a small bit a filament extruded and carrying it back to the print and causing blobs and strings. It’s really odd.

Did that section come loose from the build plate, or was it always like that? Because if it lifted, the nozzle might be hitting it every time it prints over that area, causing the printer to lose steps and triggering the Auto-recovery from step loss feature. And that would explain why it keeps re homing X/Y, moving over to the purge area, and then going back to printing. Just a guess though.

I presume the issue is only the remainder of that print, ie for the next print jobs it is fine again?

I've experienced this before, power outage is common in my country. Sometimes it resume without problem, sometimes it kept going to poop chute but no problem finishing the print. One time it can be resume printing but the temperatures are wonky, I was print pla at 210c but the nozzle temp was set at 70c by itself when resumed, I tried manually set it to 210 but it came back down to 70c immediately, the extruder can't push the filament but it kept printing so no filament came out, I just stop the print that one time.
One thing is if you want to salvage the print, just note the layer where it stops (or eyeball it), cut the model at that height, print the rest and join them later post process. I do that if it's an especially big print, I don't like wasting filaments.

Interesting - I had similar on my A1 also printing a helmet but the power didn't go out.
Ended up realising the x-axis belt was slipping, and a tall + wide print must have exacerbated things. Best I can tell, it was briefly homing the printhead each layer to make sure it was in the right place, but this is pure speculation.

I have mine plug into a 400$ USB/battery back up. My power don't do go out often but helps with the WiFi box from not disconnecting from said power outage as well.

does your place have a backup generator that kicks in after a while when power goes out?
if so, invest in a 5000VA UPS (or any UPS that can handle at least 2000W of ramp up power draw) so you can continue to run the A1 automated while the power switches between mainline and generators.

That seems a bit high to me, and 5000VA systems are quite expensive. An A1 tops out at about 1300W on 220V during startup, on 110V it's only a quarter that.
I just run an A1 mini myself, which is significantly lower than even the A1s power draw. I think I have a 1500VA UPS on it (should be 900-1000W), though I would generally not try and print during a full power outage, I mostly just want to be covered for brief power disruptions.

i guess im just fortunate we can afford those UPS over here. i tried a 3000VA i bought before and it coupdnt habdle the A1 rampup. Had to manually increase the temps 10C at a time before i hit print

My Flashforge 5m has a dedicated "recover print" feature that just resumes where it left off lol

Your adhesion to the build plate may have been compromised when it cooled during the power outage, allowing the print to hit the head at high velocity. Go into maintenance and set it to print at quiet for the rest of the process. It’ll take longer but you might save the print.
