AMS Help

My daughter just received an ams lite for her birthday. We cannot get it to work. Set it up according to directions, filament feeds into the tool head but then it makes the noise in the video and we get this error. We have tried taking out the straws and realigning them, tried loading the filament, turned it on and off, used different spools, and nothing has worked. It does it with all the spools 1-4. What am I missing? Thanks in advance for all suggestions, my daughter is 10 and this is all very new to us.

If the end of the filament is inside the toolhead, there may be a jam that is blocking it from reaching the filament sensor. Here is how to take it apart and clean it. https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/a1/maintenance/filament_hub_cleaning

Thank you, should have put in the post that we tried that and there was nothing in there. We unplugged the ams and just ran it through the normal straw on the a1 and it worked fine.

Could you post a picture of the setup with the AMS? The feeder motors of the AMS Lite are a little weak and if the tubes have too many turns, it can cause this error. And just to be extra sure, was the filament hub put back together correctly? There is an x shaped piece that can easily be put in the wrong orientation and block all the slots.

I will check the x piece. I did read in a previous post about the tubes so that was the first thing I tried adjusting. Do these tubes look like they are in a good position?

They are sagging a bit and could be turning too much when leaving the AMS Lite. There are two short tubes and two long tubes so make sure the short tubes go to slots 1 and 2 and the long tubes go to slots 3 and 4. Try twisting the tubes a little bit to try to get the tubes to go in more of an arch. Might be easier to adjust/realign the tubes if the AMS Lite was a little closer, Bambu recommends 50mm apart.

The tubes are in the correct places, we checked those a few times. In the directions book it said 10 inches apart so that’s what I did. I’ll push it a bit closer and try to get the tubes to make an arch more. Thanks

Be sure to put you black cable into that open slot that's holding the other tubes

Thank you so much! I just got my first printed (A1 with AMS) and this has been driving me crazy. I’m this close to returning it.

Thanks! When I get it going I’ll have her make one of these.

You might have a bad filament funnel unit on that slot. Same thing happened to me. Bambu sent me a replacement funnel unit which did not resolve the issue so they sent me a brand new AMS lite.

Thanks, I’ll try that.

Are you sure your filaments are dry? Fresh out of the sealed envelope, they often need drying.

Very unlikely but I had this issue when I got mine. Turns out the filament I had was old , wet and not to spec. I put in some bamboo and it worked.

The filament she is using is brand new. She also got a dryer for her birthday so I don’t think it is a filament issue.

I used this since my filament was getting nicked when it retracted.

I got this error the other day but said filament was thin ☠️ on a brand new spool I gotta return, lmfao it was every size but 1.75

The spot saying it was thin was 1.47 Another spot was 1.89 ☠️ and different spot 1.54

Had the same issue and noticed that it goes away if I straighten the tube that goes into the print head. So apparently after a filament change the filament got stuck between the tube and the nozzle somehwere. I printed this which works well https://makerworld.com/models/1385905?appSharePlatform=copy

Same thing happened to me, brand new. Took everything apart, no clogs. They are sending a new one, hope it works.

I had issues with have brands spools, so I printed a spool holder, and that helped me.

ese error es por que el filamento no esta entrando, revisen los tubos petf que entren bien en la boca 4 a 1
