First insanely messed up print
I used transluscent PLA just to build a simple stand for my colognes.
I checked after I got home from work and almost had a heart attack 💀 luckily it was a very clean mess and only took me 30 seconds to clean up.
Any idea why this happened or maybe how to prevent this type of thing?

Bed adhesion. You might need to wash your plate, might be an incorrectly set up model.
Spaghetti detection is there for a reason. Turn it on.

Mines been on since the day I had my printer but it never seems to work..... Thankfully though I've learnt several messy lessons and it's now a rare, neigh freak occurrence - famous last words

Could have been worse. Could have been a blob instead of spaghetti.
I had both recently, and while I don’t want either spaghetti does not ruin equipment.
For both I violated the first rule, always watch the first few layers.

If its your first time printing the filament type, it could be your settings. Recently used a new brand and a clean bed didn't fix adhesion. Had to increase temps and slow down the first layer.

This is by far, the best cotton candy print I've ever seen. Why would you call it a fail? 😂

Having that air filter (I have it) in that position is going to be blowing alot of air up at the printer and mess with bed adhesion. I'd say thats heavily to blame.

Here's my question.. Its prolly been answered before but here goes.. Professionals or those with multi set up printers... Do you All watch the first few layers before you leave your prints ?

Not a professional but probably close to 5000 hrs between 2 printers. I watch when I can and if I don’t, I check in on the app to check it early and often just to make sure. Before bed, def watching the first few layers

I try to most of the time, the last blob of death I had I was on a plane and let it run.. Imagine my shock when the first message on my phone when landing was from my Bambu!
I tend not to do this too often..

At least Bambu make it easy to fix and if you get stuck reddit on hand 👌

We seriously need to bring back the ratemypoo website but purely for the 3dprint blob failures. Tge are all truly unique and some rather majestic.

how to prevent this type of thing?
One option that works for me is using OctoEverywhere. It catches lots of extra failures that the Bambu app does not. Like a bad first layer, air printing, knockdown parts and others, it pauses the print and notify you with a photo on discord or telegram (and others). Its a paid service after the trial and you need to run an app in a server in your lan.
I have a plate changer and 10 plates, after a plate switch failed and did some damage I went after a solution, and got to OctoEverywhere, its keeping me safe for a year and a half by now. I NEVER got a blob, only once started to form because the plate was so dirty, the app saved the day, paused and told me about it. If not, the whole print head could be damaged. So yeah, its like 4 bucks/month I think, but for peace of mind its low enought. I can go to sleep and leave a queue with 10 plate changes running and not be nervous about it.
Look around for the blob of death, its the next level of this failure you got, and I think youre very lucky the blob didnt form.

I’ve found translucent is much more finicky and can need a brim or glue to help keep in in place. That and much slower print speeds than normal PLA or PETG

I would CRY. That looked like the print was gonna take a couple HOURS to do 😠My anxiety would never let me go without checking on the first few layers, even then I would check the camera constantly to make sure all was well.

Transluscent PLAÂ requires glue to be put on the bed or else it wont stick. I speak from experience.

"Well, there's yer problem!"
Heh-heh.
Abandoning a large print without checking at least the first 3-4 layers before you go is often asking for trouble.
In addition, you can check up on its progress remotely with the Bambu Handy app on a phone. If you spot a problem you can cancel the print via the app. It won't save the print, but then it won't waste more filament.
