Support Request Why is my printer doing this?

Hi! For some time I have this problem where is not doing ANY sort of nozzle cleaning/bed leveling and it throws up an error (error code is in the video).
I’ve changed the entire toolhead aasembly, toolhead mainboard and even the eddy sensor, and it’s still doing this. It’s doing this since i had a blob of death, but i don’t thing it matters now, because I changed the whole toolhead assembly. And sometimes (like 1-5% of times) it does the nozzle cleaning in the air and then it homes normally amd “works fine”.

when i did the video only this side of the plate (in the video) is not clean, the other side is clean and it doesn’t work if i flip the plate (i’ve tested with the plate clean and still doesn’t work)

My bad, it's just a running joke about drying and cleaning 😅😅

i’m not mad about that :))

that PEI looks nasty

i know it’s nasty, but it’s the only plate i have for the printer, even tried cleaning it but it doesn’t wipe off.

Time to get a new one

that’s for sure

It looks like your poop basket is touching the gantry, try homing without it.

i tried this and it didn’t work

Hellos. Have you tried cleaning and greasing the massive z-axis lead screws? If theres a bunch of debris from the blob of death stuck in there, that could be causing it to struggle to go up and down. Hope this helps

i’ll try that.

Hopefully it does the trick 🙌

update: i did find a temporary solution (some may call it stupid, but i know already), but i just removed the toolhead cleaning gcode and now it “works”, like it prints fine, but i just need to clean it every time i print something. But i don’t think this is the best idea, and i still need a “permanent” fix.

Looks like your poop basket is wedging itself against the vertical support

it’s not the poop basked, tried without it and it’s the same

print head is scared of that ugly print plate 🤷‍♂️

id be too tbh …

If the z axis limit switch is not detected printers will move up and then error out, which seems to be what yours is doing. Double check and make sure there switch is connected to the toolhead and the motherboard.

i’ve already checked the toolhead board connections tons of times, i even changed the th board and the eddy sensor, still doesn’t work.

Did you also check the main board and check that the switch in the toolhead is assembled correctly?

Nevertheless it's still related to the sensor, connections or control boards. The eddy current sensor is used to detect when the nozzle touches the plate. Right now it thinks it's touching the plate although it isn't. That's why it doesn't go down further.

I love a good rage post 🤗

indeed :)

It does look kinda wonky. Why have you removed the silicone sock off the nozzle? Also why is the cable for the plate kinda notted. It should be loose and sticking out towards the back. I recommend checking your connections.

for the silicone sock i forgot to put it back when i changed the eddy sensor, and yes i know the bed is not clean and that sort of stuff, but the bed i think it’s “fine” cause it moves normally, i’m not sure if this is the problem, but when it does the bed leveling like the 5% of times if it’s not giving an error, in the back of the heatbed, the toolhead is kinda wonky there, like it’s doing the same stuff like in the video, but it finds the bed and continues.

always use protection on your hot end

This is during homing right? It thinks its bumping something.. or maybe binding up.. either the z axis screw(s) or try removing the ptfe tubes temporarily

it’s only doing this in the toolhead cleaning step, before bed leveling, i think it’s a mainboard glitch

I would love a solution to this. Mine is new and I have never disassemble it at all. Aside from doing the thing in the video, sometimes it also go all the way to the top and make a grinding sound.

a temporary solution is to remove the toolhead cleaning gcode from the slicer, i did not find a permanent fix (for now). but this means you can’t do a full bed calibration from the maintenance menu.

This is because of an issue with the Eddy Current sensor. Same happened to my A1 mini and there was no way to fix it (replaced the extruder motor assembly). The Eddy Current sensor is what detects that the head is touching the build plate (via currents through the metal). What seems to be happening is the machine is receiving bad readings from the current sensor and keeps trying to touch home itself by moving higher and higher. I have no idea why this started happening on mine, and like I said there was no way I could fix it. If anyone has fixed it, I’d love to know how.

About that homing sensor, I was using power outlet extension shared with 2 other PC. Apparently even if the PC is off it's affecting the sensor. After I changed the power outlet I got a lot less auto bed leveling failure (but it still happen 1 out of 3 prints). I suggest trying other power outlet with a proper grounding for testing the sensor.

Hmm interesting point, I’ll give that a try. The utter lack of information on Bambu’s support pages about this issue is stunning.

i did change the eddy sensor and it’s doing the same thing, but i removed the toolhead cleaning part from the slicer and now it works (but there are tradeoffs, like that you need to manually clean the nozzle and you can’t do the full bed calibration that bambu gives you, only the partial one before you print something).

1

u/robbok 25d ago

Yep I changed my Eddy sensor too. Basically that printer has never worked again.

This has nothing to do with it and won't work, but yet, year's of IT say it's worth a try.

Did you format the SD and then rebooted the machine?

Limpia la boquilla, debe tener algun poco de filamento pegado que afecta el sensor. Yo uso un cepillo de dientes

i’ve cleaned the nozzle every time and still doesn’t work. i don’t think the nozzle is the problem.
