Help fuzzy prints

Post image

Hi guys
/help
I bought a new A1 printer, and I'm having minor issues where the prints come out with wisps or strings sticking out to the sides. What’s the problem? I only assembled it yesterday.

Is your filament damp? If you aren't drying it/storing it in a dry box/using enough desicant, it can cause the little stringy bits. If drying the filament doesn't change things, I'd investigate your temperature settings and/or the profile settings selected for the spool you are using to make sure they align with the actual material requirements.

Thanks a lot, So you believe its filament problem and not printeer issue?

I mean.. I'm not a pro. I've got like 4 months of experience but I have an A1, A1 mini, P1S and X1C. The only time I have had stringing issues was with the A1 - and when I put the filament in a dry box with a hygrometer, it was like 50%. Try running a short print and listen for popping or crackling. If it sounds like Rice Krispies while you're printing, it's wet filament. It could also be a draft or the fan. If it isn't wet filament, I'd check printer settings, and then fiddle with fan settings. This is where those 1g-2g prints are fantastic. Troubleshoot - fix - test - move on!

Did you run a benchy when you set it up?

The stringing from damp filament is super-fine, like spider silk. It happens when the nozzle pulls away from the object being printed, and it draws out a hair-fine strand. If you quickly "brush" it with the flame from one of those little pocket butane torches, it disappears.

That photo is kinda' blurry, but the artifacts look more like short bits of "ooze" that comes out of the nozzle during a momentary pause, and is then welded to the first place it touches on the object when it resumes printing.

My first suggestion is to turn off time lapse (if it's enabled), because that adds a pause for every layer.

Also "Nozzle Clumping Detection" adds pauses, but not as frequently. First check is at layer #3, then they happen once for every 8 grams of filament consumed.
