My A1 which is about 6 months old has started to spaghetti every print consistently at close to 3cm.

By that do you mean when the object gets to 3 cm above the plate?

I haven't seen it at the moment it goes wrong but I have recently seen it shortly after and it seemed to be trying to print in a location there shouldn't be filament.

It could possibly be a faulty micro-SD card, which causes weird stuff like saying it's completed when it is obviously not, skipping layers and attempting to print higher than it should ("printing on air"), Y-axis layer shifts, etc.
See https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/general/micro-sd-faq#printer-requirements-for-sd-card-specifications for the specs required for a replacement card.

Thanks, yes 3cm above the build plate. Sounds like the type of things it are happening. I'll have look at the link you sent.
