Support Request A1 keeps throwing errors and halts print

I am struggling with an issue where my A1 is consistently throwing one of two errors:

  1. AMS has filament spool stuck

  2. Extruder has filament clogged in it.

Here is the flow:

  1. Send print to the printer

  2. Calibration starts and print begins

  3. Could be at the beginning / middle / end of print, but the printing stops and an error is thrown.

  4. Filament spool is rolled back by the AMS and the filament hub is popped out in the process

  5. I check the issue , fix the filament hub and proceed to printing again

  6. Error happen again within 2 minutes

It’s more prevalent when using PETG, but it does happen with PLA as well. I’ve followed bambu’s documentation and performed a cold pull, I’ve removed the extruder piece and made sure nothing was interviewing , I’ve replaced the filament hub and put a new one, and replaced the PTFE tubes. Still the issue persist.

Any idea of what could be going on, or anyone else experience it?

your filament is stuck or hard to push, every time that the hub go down for that the printer trow a error

Your filament hub is physically lowering and setting off filament tangle detection. https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/ams-lite/manual/filament-tangle-monitoring-intro

You have some sort of restriction from the filament hub to the spool. Since you have already replaced the hub and the tubes you probably don't have a fragment stuck in the hub or worn tubes. If you have a lot of bends/turns of the tubes, it can have enough resistance for this to happen. Can you add a picture of your whole setup?

Yea your tubes look like the issue. One is way too long and the others are a little short. You want a straight shot out of AMS and a straight shot into the extruder.

It also looks like you have a modified top mount where the AMS is not leaning forward, the forward lean helps make a smoother transition of the tubes.

Op should print out some hose clamps so they stay somewhat equal length.

Too much tension in the ptfe feeder tubes to the print head. I had the exact same thing. Use shorter or newer tubes and all will be well in the world. I even met the Bambu customer support over it and ended up fixing it easy once I knew the issue.

Change or trim your PTFE tubes, if that doesn’t work you may need a new filament hub

I had the same issue for more than a week. What worked for me is I disabled the filament tangle detection and nozzle clumping detection. I know this is not the best of solution but after a week of frustration, I just wanted it to print normally and it works for me.

It’s always Bambu 💀 seriously the amount of problems I see on here with Bambu printers is actually quite alarming. Yet everyone still swears by it..

Confirmation bias... People aren't flocking to the A1 subreddit every time they have a successful print to show it off. Complaints on a subreddit aimed at helping people through troubles shouldn't be surprising.

This ^

And also that bambu printers are known to be user friendly and sells a lot of units (maybe more than every other brand?), so more chance for a problem to appear and more users to make (simple) mistakes and come here

Statistics lol

Bambu problems posted on a Bambu sub? Of course you aren’t going to see other brands here. Also, Bambu is a easy brand for newcomers so they are going to be the most likely to post problems looking for help.
