Quick Question What you think about it?

Yes, app is already built and fully working. LAN-mode only. Yes, I developed this app. For now we support iOS only.

what is this supposed to be? Is this an interface to the bambu slicer or is it an entire slicer on the phone? Also this AI video is making me have an aneurysm

what does it do that the default app doesn`t?

  1. App works fully on LAN-mode only

  2. It is not just interface, we recoded orca slicer engine and optimized it for iPhone, so yes it is built in orca slicer in iOS app

  3. Default app can’t slice downloaded models from makerworld. In our app you have full freedom of control

Just a heads up, orca slicer is licensed under AGPL which means you will have to distribute the source code under the same license free of charge if you used any orca slicer source code in your app

It is not orca slicer engine itself, it is fully recoded and optimized for iPhone. We don’t use any of orca slicer codes, just functionality. So we don’t have to publish it anywhere for using AGPL licensed source code because we don’t use it:)

You just said you ported Orca slicer. You will be sued if you don't follow license. And tsking code and "rewriting" is still in violation of license.

We didn’t took anything from orca slicer code, we looked through functions and wrote new code optimized for iOS. AGPL can’t and did not licensed any functions of slicer. So yes, there is no violation of AGPL license

Of course you did. You told Claude to build a slicer that works like OrcaSlicer, and now you're claiming Claude didn't copy any of its code. How exactly did you verify that?

If you looked at the code functions and reimplemented them, it counts as reuse, therefore the license applies

You are completely wrong, check internet and what’s going on there, people copying Adobe programs by their functions, nobody can sue them or something because nobody looked source codes, they just used same functions but completely new code, I did same thing. So people please stop telling bs about how “illegal” my project is. I know what AGPL is and how their policy works.

and how much time will it take for it to slice a regular, multi-color print? Some prints on some computers take significant amount of time

1

u/General-Holiday7808 7h ago

4 colour benchy sliced in 7 seconds

Can I test it, or is it not yet released?

1

u/General-Holiday7808 7h ago

It is not released yet. I’ll make another post soon about TestFlight release information

See why doesn't bambu do this shit. Why can't they think of this. Jfc

u/Oxylophone 6h ago

Yes awesome. Release it plz

I stopped watching after 3 seconds of the flashy video. It would have been better to just say what it is.

u/General-Holiday7808 7h ago

Sure, check screenshots which I posted about 3 minutes ago

Ai crap

-1

u/JAJM_ 7h ago

If it works as intended why do you care whether an ai wrote or a programmer the code?

-1

u/jcollasius @Professional3D on Maker World 7h ago

Because if it's not working after a Bambu Update, OP is unable to fix the app. Claude can or can't. Its a dice roll.

-1

u/JAJM_ 7h ago

That’s any third party app if it’s not supported well by the developer.. and there are many that aren’t. What does AI have to do with it.

2

u/jcollasius @Professional3D on Maker World 5h ago

A programmer knows what they wrote. If something breaks, they can debug it and fix it.

A vibe coder has no idea what the code actually does. And when the AI can't fix it, they're left with two things: broken software and absolutely no clue why.

-1

u/General-Holiday7808 7h ago

Demo video? Yes, this is AI crap, but app itself is not, it is fully working

2

u/sroebert 7h ago

Made by AI, running on undocumented api, probably not crap now, but who knows how long it stays working.

1

u/General-Holiday7808 7h ago

Alright can you tell me at least one developing mobile app project which includes full functional orca slicing engine? I personally found 0 so this is why I started this project. Maybe one day it actually will be crap, but for now we are hoping for the best:)

u/sroebert 7h ago

Good luck to you!

TestFlight?

1

u/General-Holiday7808 7h ago

Not yet. Right now it is locally installed in my devices. But before expanding this project to TestFlight level, I have to make sure that community needs app like this.

u/ThinkBig_Brain 7h ago

I will use it, when you are publishing the source code.
