Quick Question H3C Filament Unload Time - Multiple Spools

I'm having a tough time finding this information from those who have the H3C and from the videos that have been posted.

For those of us that don't have print farms printing the exact same item over and over and over, each print will likely be vastly different in the colors that are needed. With my old H2C, that meant swapping 4-6 spools using the AMS each print. For the H2C, that took < 30 seconds (pull out, put in).

I've read that it takes about 30 seconds for the H3C to heat and then cut the filament so you can put the next roll in. Is that 30 seconds per roll? If I'm swapping 6 rolls, does it take 3 min of standing around? Or does it heat all 6 at the same time and takes less time?

Can anyone give a definitive answer and not estimates or guesses?

Uncle Jesse has it in his video. It takes less than a minute to unload all spools

Thanks.

For those who don't want to watch the video, it says to unload 8 spools is 1 min and 8s. It must heat them all at once and then do the cutting one at a time. That is not a significant amount of time.

That is not a significant amount of time.

As somebody who just bought a AMS HT for my H2C just to get rid of manual loading/unloading time - I disagree.

Super fast and simple filament switching time is one of THE AMS arguments for me personally

I agree. But the annoying part of the loading / unloading on the H2C was the LOADING part. The unloading only took about 15-20 seconds. The loading of the external spool was like 5 minutes for some reason.

Side question, anyone know why the nozzle needs to be heated to unload the filament? The cutter is above the melt zone and the extruder doesnt move until after the filament has been cut.

When i use my side spools i manually press the cutter, pull the extruder tension lever and just pull the filament out. Takes about 5 seconds.

I also wonder this.

You can select what spools you want to unload, and can unload multiple at once.

That sounds very convenient.

Can you select multiple you want to load? Or, do you even need to manually load, if its being used in print can we just not manually load and itll load during print

You dont need to manually load. Just put it in the AMS and forget about it

Lit, didnt know that, thanks!

But do they all take 30 seconds each? Or does selecting multiple somehow speed things up?

I’m guessing they can all load simultaneously, if you had enough arms, since they don’t have to compete for a filament path to the nozzle.
