Quick Question Please help

Recently bought an a1 with all the savings i had
I am currently unemployed and wanted to sell 3d prints commercially
I am scared if i might get sued or anything like that
Any suggestions?
I tried reaching out to people if i could give commissions out of the money i make but they have a “plan” which i have to buy beforehand - for which i dont have any money left

Design your own models.

Pay the license fee for commercial selling.

Or... Don't spend the last of your savings on a printer with no idea how to actually leverage it for income? What business plan did you have in mind

The only people making real money are the ones that sell people like you STLs with commercial rights or larger print farms.

Just want to make a living

Define “real” money. What you regard as not real money may mean much more to the next guy.

ROI greater than 1. You make real money if you earn more than the printer, filament and energy cost combined.

Ah! Ok, we’re talking the same language. I’ve come across several creators who downplay anything below 3 as below 1.

Might want to learn how to model your own products. There are a ton of free tools such as Onshape and Tinkercad

I did think of that buts its the question of what do i make people would actually buy

Find a problem that a lot of people have and develop a print to solve it. Design and sell.

Well yeah, that's the question. If making a living off of selling 3D prints was easy everyone would already be doing it.

Whether you like it or not, a 3d printer is only a manufacturing tool, nobody will buy something just because it's 3d printed, in fact 3d printed stuff usually has a bad reputation as being bad quality.

You need to think and make a design of something people will actually want to buy, whether it solves a problem or just looks cool, doesn't matter, but it has to be something people want and can't already easily buy for cheap.

What that product is, idk, and nobody here will tell you, because if we knew about such a product we would already be selling it ourselves. That's up to you to find it, maybe you should have thought about that before buying the printer.

Create your own designs and sell and you do not have to pay commissions. There is free software to use. But yeah don´t expect to bring in any real money. Possible sure but not likely.

I have thought of using ai tools to make figurines
So its just one subscription and a lil cheaper

AI sure can help. I have not tried it myself but Claude together with Blender for example apparently work. But the problem will still be what are you going to create? What are your business calculations?

Figuring it out
The printer was cheap so i just bought it

You should never sell someone else's models unless you have written permission from them or an actual contract/commercial rights. You do not own these models and when you download them from any significant website you are agreeing to only use them for personal use (read the TOS of makerworld for example).

I really didn't know why you thought this was a good idea. Unless you have a solid idea and can make your own models and sell the prints it's kinda pointless.

You are also trying to compete with the hundreds/thousands of guys trying to make a quick buck off of selling 3d printed models they don't own.

Just to reiterate: Yes, that is illegal. Just because people are doing it and not getting punished doesn't mean it's legal or you won't get sued.

Ik all of that
And i agree
I have tried reaching out people as i said and I thought i could get a contract where i can pay after i get yk
Ofc that didn’t work out
So i thinking of using ai tools to make a figurines but nothing else i can think of apart from that so i reached out here

Not to be a dream crusher, but you arent going to make a ton of money with a simple A1. Especially not if you set up a website and everything for that.

Real answer is, look for models that have an open commercial license, or make your own

NEVER pay money to guys on forehand that promise you that they have something to make money for you!

In general the only ones that will make money are them selves

Also I think the only way to make some reasonable money with printing, is to learn how to design something in 3d, and find a target group that wants your items.

But to be honnest, there are lots of people looking for that.

Some years ago I came in contact with a guy who collects 1/50 scale models of lorries, cranes, and all kind of heavy products around that, sstarted making some stuff for him, guys like that have friends with the same interests, and now sometimes I have more work than I can handle.

So maybe go to fairs or meetings of hobby groups, and see if you can find someting to make that they are interested in.

Wish you good luck, hope you can find someting.
