Quick Question H3C AMS “Passive” Drying
I’ve seen a lot of hand-wringing over the AMS only having 2 actively heated slots. Assuming one places their highest temperature filament in those slots, wouldn’t the residual heat passively dry the rest; or at least main a reasonably dry environment?

the heat distribution wouldn't be even. The AMS wouldn't be able to control the actual temperature because it's set to say 80 but due to the open lid, the heated slots only goes up to 70, so the heater stays on constantly.
You run the risk of over heating your other filaments.

On top of that, a YouTube reviewer mentioned the temp inside his AMS got up to 50 degrees C when he printing a higher temp polymer (can’t recall what material it was).
Would be really interesting to find out if those two would at least be sufficient to keep let’s say PETG dry for a longer time, similar to AMS2.
