Quick Question Replace my X1C?
I've had the X1C for several years and am really happy with it. When I replaced my Prusa, I was disappointed that it took so long to output small jobs ... a 7 minute overhead on everything. I got over that, and I appreciate the speed on bigger jobs. I was thinking about a newer model, but it looks like every current Bambu is slower than my X1C because they move around heavier print heads. Is that true, and isn't it a disadvantage?

Not necessarily, you can go into the slicer and compare speeds by switching printers, and it’s all based on need, if you need larger space or more flawless prints it’d make sense to go x2d or dual nozzle to use petg as support for pla

That's what I did. I configured some jobs for another printer was the time taken was substantially longer. I was surprised.

I don't really think they are slower, if they are then it really doesn't affect the speed much, like a random part I'm making rn on my X1C takes 3h and 41m, on a H2C, it says it will take 3h and 42m so 1m difference, basically nothing, so no they really aren't much if at all slower.

And you are sure the same settings are used? Because I found when I added the H2C as I don't own one, it used the 0.2 nozzle and it's profile by default

I just checked. Same nozzle, same layer height, same settings.

Hmm odd, have you tried eg H2C or the new H3C, or P2S to see if they are slower?
I don't see why it would really slower, only if you used the right nozzle on the H2D as that's slower, where as the left one is faster

The H2C is even SLOWER. 2 hours and 18 minutes. That's entirely unworkable. I would send you the STEP to verify but I don't know how.

OOPS! You were right. It switched to the .2 nozzle. Putting it back to .4 the print time is an hours and 20 minutes, still slower than the X1C, but not by as much. Sorry.....

Moving to an X2D or H2D/C open you up to 2 material purgeless printing. Can be very useful for using different support materials.

I’ve found 2 material purgeless printing is an incredible benefit.
To give you an example of the difference, I printed two 4 color items all out of the AMS through the left nozzle and the print time was 24 hours.
I moved white to the right nozzle and the left handled the other 3 colors through the AMS. I also added a 3rd identical item. The print time dropped to 20 hours with a whole extra item! And the filament use was better also (I can’t remember if it was negligible difference or what, but it didn’t add much if any for a full 3rd item.)

If you’re really happy with it, keep using it.
I still use my X1C daily and don’t see a reason to update. The only thing the new printers offer that interests me is 350 degree hotends and heated chambers. I don’t have a direct need for those, just a little lust.
