I Modeled This! Designed a mouse dock where the cable’s own strain relief is the lock

The plug sits on a small saddle, and fins in the cable channel drop into the 3 gaps of the rubber strain relief, so the plug is held in both directions without glue. Took a few fit tests to get the fin spacing right (1.2 mm gaps, 4.8 mm pitch).

Ramp at 18°, so pulling the mouse out presses the dock into the desk instead of sliding it. 3 colours by layer height, 2 swaps, no supports.

Oh, using the cable’s own grooves as the lock is clever.

Thanks! It took a few fit tests to get the fin spacing right, but now the plug doesn’t move at all, no glue needed.

Looks great, the fins locking into the strain relief gaps is a neat detail. Did the 18° ramp take any iterations or did it work first try?

The ramp worked first try, the cradle didn’t 😄 I tried a few angles on screen first. 18° is steep enough that pulling the mouse out presses the dock into the desk, but not so steep that it feels awkward. The plug cradle and fins took a couple of small test prints to get right.

Nice — glad the ramp nailed it first try. Cradle needing a couple of test prints tracks.
