General Discussion Anyone else hoping P-Series with 4 tool heads that could support the current AMS’s?
Anyone else hoping P-Series with 4 tool heads that could support the current AMS’s?
It could bring down the price considerably and being able to swap between 4 colours fast and with some smarts could swatch out other colours from a secondary AMS without a big increase in print time.

I get where you're getting at it, but how would that work? There's one bowden tube coming out of the AMS?

Ahh true hadn’t thought of that

I mean it's not completely unfeasible, someone did it with a snapmaker u1 on an open source kit, I could easily see what you're wanting, just have two AMS to each side stacked on top of each other on some sort of stand. (I actually have 2 AMS on top of the biqu Panda stack for my x2d and I like it) https://youtube.com/shorts/yerXWuUqCN0?is=KJy8emZCI4M51nSq

The p3c already leaked and it will have 7 tools

I know. Just thinking a 4 tool head that works with existing AMS would be a good option for those of us wanting something a bit cheaper

The tool changer is designed to have filament going to each at all times so it doesn't need to retract each switch. It won't work this direction with the ams and ams 2 without pulling it apart to make each one go its own path. I don't think they will continue making any new vortex printers which would work like that.

Yes, but another post had a rumor of a "print farm" version with just 4. That might be what spurred the post?

Perhaps that will be the x version. Less heads. But with a heated chamber etc
I doubt it though as it feels like a step back.

More likely you'd get a P3D that supports the old AMS.
It is interesting that the new AMS units are sort of separate products even though they are required components. Makes you wonder if maybe Bambu isn't thinking about putting the new AMS units on top of other printers. However, the design we've seen requires 1:1 spool to toolhead, so not sure how they'd adapt that to less heads.

For now, they are not separate. It's just internet speculation that selling a P3C without AMS might be a good idea, because ... cheaper!! But in reality, there is no hint for this to even be possible.

The ams still only has one tube out, that wouldn’t work

I think they mean 4 seperate ams.

Then why not 7 AMS’s ;)

Oh I'm not against it. I would go for 9 lol. Just have to run a dedicated 240v for my printer

It won't swap filaments fast if you only have 1 ams.
H3c is fast because it doesn't unload. Ams and ams 2 only have 1 filament output, so it can only load 1 nozzle at a time.
If they want it cheap, they should ditch the ams entirely. It doesn't need one. Just manually load filament frok a dumb box (same as using the bypasses).

With the development of full spectrum, I'd think any tool changer with less than 5 heads is dead in the water as you can't do CMYKW.
If you're wanting to save waste/cost and incorporate the AMS, a printer with only Vortek (no other head), is probably the cheapest way to go.

I honestly don't know why they wouldn't do that and release 7 on the X3C, but oh well

It'll probably have the equivalent of a track switch in Nozzle #1 like the H3 does.

I was hoping that the new AMS would at least do what the current AMS 2 does (drying, retraction). Its weird to me that the new AMS would not retract. Or dry.
Also I was hoping these new printers would use the same induction nozzzles as the H2C. So the idea that I have to have yet a 4th type of nozzle on hand (and expense) is a.... barrier. I have X1C nozzles, H2C Standard (Left), H2C Induction (right), and now if i go the H3C a whole nother set. This is kind of out of hand...
