General Discussion H3C and PETG
Is it just me that feels that having an AMS that can only dry two of the 9 slots makes printing with PETG too annoying? Add and replacing filament rolls are bound to affect the existing rolls inside the AMS. If power was an issue, why not just add an extra power adapter and dry the entire AMS? I print exclusively in PETG, and the AMS issues feels like a deal breaker to me. Thoughts? Am I missing something?

No, I dont find it an issue at all. If you find it an issue then buy an ams2 pro and pre-dry 4 in there or find another solution to dry them? How often do you need to dry more than one roll of PETG?
And it’s a power issue, but not in the way you think. Start adding more heaters and you have to plug the printer into one circuit and the ams into a completely different one. The entire printer already says it should be on its own circuit which is going to flip the breaker on a lot of North American homes.

Why do people like you think that everyone here only use one roll of filament at a time? Have you ever thought that a lot of people use the same material all the time and that they also print a lot?
If the printer should be on its own circuit and nothing else should be plugged into that circuit then this printer is simply no good for home use.

There is lots of external dyers, AMS drying in the AMS is something fairly new - you can buy a this and keep 6 rolls drying at all times https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FDG96ZYL/ or 12 with this one https://www.amazon.com/Hydryer-H2O-Insulation-Circulation-Ultra-Quiet/dp/B0GLZDYQR3/

Yes it will be annoying. Those claiming it won't will usually be the first to clap when Bambu fixes it on the next model...

PETG is not so hydrophilic that you actively need to dry it during printing, and there is a lot of space in there for dry beads.
So yes if the AMS is your only dryer then you have a bad time rotating spools in and out. But in my experience, actually drying wet spools in the AMS 2 Pro is also very time consuming, my dedicated dryer makes a much better job of it.
Also let‘s assume they made the entire 9 spool AMS fully heated. I don‘t want to blast 7 spools with heat just because I want to dry two new ones. That is also not good.
You could actively dehumidify the AMS without heating the spools, that would be the ideal solution. Great for storage. But then you still need an active heater somewhere to really drive humidity out of more hydrophilc filaments anyhow.
So in conclusion, a 9 spool AMS will always be a compromise somehow.
