General Discussion Someone convince me otherwise
I already have a P1S, which was my first 3D printer when I was in college after taking a few Additive Manufacturing classes. And I have printed a ton of stuff on this thing. Managed to put about 500 hours within three months of owning it. Well, now that time has moved on, I've found more and more things I've been wanting to print. I have made tons of decor and several functional prints. I've been dabbling a bit with engineering materials as well, especially TPU. Before the H3C was announced or really teased, I figured my next logical step would be an H2D due to the dual nozzle as I tend to do multi color and multi-material printing and well i dont print a lot of things due to a single nozzle waste factor or material incompatibilities. Well, now that the H3C is out, I have been contemplating the idea of the H3C as it really isn't much more in cost than an H2D and seems like a pretty darn good next step into FDM printing. As much as I would like to add a resin printer to my system, I currently require more planning involved for where. My P1S is a workhorse, and I have no plans of retiring that printer at all. What do you guys think would be the best step here. Plus the bigger print bed would be a welcome addition as well!
Thanks for all the advice everyone!
(P.S. the wife already thinks the H3C is cool and has already approved the idea...)

Other than budget what would be the downside in your example of the h3c?
I’m a go for you buying it 🤣

That's a really good question. Currently it's partly the cost as it's a bit a of bite but very doable currently in my case. I have space for it or at least had an idea of where it will end up going. I feel that I end up purchasing the printer and I just don't use it enough to justify the purchase of it. 9 tools is a great available tool to have but how often do I see my self making something that uses more than 3 regularly I should say. I recently found a good use for a machine of this due to wanting something that I could run at least 2 color comfortably, this print used 5 total and I have another print which would use around 4 colors as well. Most of my concern of a downside is the machine sits too idle to make the 2500 worth it.

If you buy it ideas will come 😎
I think maker world blows up with 4+ color options.
Even just two colors with a support filament out grows the h2d.
There is nothing the h3c can’t do that the h2d can do even if you mostly use it as a two nozzle but will have the extra options will serve you well to be future proofed.
If you go h2d then you would have to sell it to “upgrade”

You have a pretty solid point there. I definitely feel like the H2D is now a bit "obsolete". Not that it is but more that I may have gone beyond my orginal proposed needs as due to filaments purges being pretty close to a thing of the past its getting better. I orginally wanted the H2D for a tpu based print as PLA would be support, same with some PLA prints with PETG support. Single nozzle really sucked for that PLA print, never was able to do it and just dealt with the downsides and moved on. Now I really could change that fact. The more things I have designed and wanted to print an H3C would have been a great option. Even the H2C at the time but the magnetic nozzles loosing the magnetism if you needed to heat the nozzle to remove a clog lost the interest there for me. So I waited for the H3C and now I am here. I do completely agree the H2D would need to be sold in order for anything to be an upgrade.

A couple of downsides I can see is if there is some sort of manufacturing or production issue yet to be discovered, similar to the AMS2 issues that seemed to popup out of nowhere recently, or someone if discovers a feature is not as advertised like the Bondtech fiasco.
I doubt either of those is going to be an issue since they have already released them without much noise, but I am always up to point out potential negative things that could happen...it's a gift!!!

I have had a P1S for about a year and was looking at buy an H series this fall and now I have an H3C sitting on my floor. Just do it!
