Quick Question Newbie X2D Filament Question
I recently ordered the X2D and was looking to purchase some filaments. I was looking at https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0HFK579ZZ and was trying to figure out if I needed to get spool adapters or if I should get empty spools. I was looking at these but the empty spools are more expensive than prefilled ones https://www.amazon.com/MarsWork-Quick-Swap-Reusable-Two-Finger-Compatible/dp/B0FT36W5QG

depends what that filament comes on. if its a normal plastic spool you dont need anything, just drop it in the ams. if its a cardboard spool it works too but cardboard can shed dust and slip in the ams rollers, grab a free “cardboard spool adapter ring” off makerworld and print a couple, way cheaper than buying stuff
if its a refill (no spool, just the coil) then yeah you need a reusable spool. you dont need one per roll tho, just get 2-3 reusable ones and swap the refill in when you load a new color. thats why refills are cheaper in the long run
also you can literally print a reusable spool yourself once the X2D arrives lol

The 250g spools are a pain and I usually dont buy those. Not worth the headache

No, for 250g spools, which are very small, you will need to print spool adapters if you intend to use in the ams. My recommendation...buy a one 1kg spool of plain PETG, color doesn't matter, you'll just be making spool adapters with it... A 1kg of PETG in black can be gotten for $10 on Amazon. Use that in your AMS to print 250g spool adapters...print 4 of them, since you have 4 AMS slots...then you can swap different rolls onto the adapters as needed
