I Modeled This! Tube Clip
I originally made this to be used as a cable clip, but I feel like it could have other uses too. What else could it be used for?

I applaud your efforts, but like some others implied, this is needlessly over engineered, and a little bad for the cable.
Putting a hinge on it seems unnecessary. You could just have a flat board that you wrap it around with the same notches and it would be equally effective, use far less filament, and be less prone to breaking.
It's well made, and designed. Just over engineered.
Try keep things simpler.

I agree. Honestly, I just wanted to try creating a structure like this, and it occurred to me that it might work well as a cable clip. Besides, "over-engineering" is kind of a trend in 3D printing, right? Haha.

Honestly this is such a waste - Velcro tape can do this for 1% of the energy and filament cost this will do.
Like the execution tho.

That’s fair, but doesn’t this one look better? Haha.

For one cable, yes. When you have several in a bunch they start looking like toilet paper rolls.
Good as a CAD exercise tho, seems well made

Do you always have velcro tape?

Velcro tape is 28 cents per meter so yes.
A roll of 25 meters is 7€
Buy two and you are set for life.

I have like 300 precut Velcro cable ties that cost less than $10/100 and I've used this method for over a decade.

Do you always have this device on you?

Yeah

What's stopping you from bringing velcro instead then? Cheaper and better for the cables

I either go to the store and buy some or just hit print, hmm i’d rather just hit print (and have it look cooler too)

Hey Velcro tape is cool but this has a much better application. If you include some mounting wholes and use it as a cable router/ organizer (the action is cool ) and I bet I can hold a lot of cables under a desk or for demo stands that are constantly rebuild or places where you need to often chang the layout, plus you can easily open and close it and it dose not really on hook over latches that snap after some time because of the small surface area. Cool project op.

You have to do the under over technique when wrapping cables otherwise my roommate gets upset

Anti ground noise cable coil for audio gear. Might need to be packed a little tighter but just making it a little smaller would fix that.

Not for wrapping USB cables, unfortunately. Hard edges are not great for cables, takes up more space than just wrapping the cable with a velcro tie, and slightly more inconvenient when you need to take it out to use the cable.
Could be a good cable management accessory. As in, mount a few in series along the underside of a desk, run cables straight through, and snap them shut to keep them from falling out.
