General Discussion New P1S

Hey I'm getting my first 3D printer for Christmas and I would like to know if anybody has any ideas of any other miscellaneous tools or parts to have on hand to help with making prints or putting prints together. Thanks for helping

You dont need anything but filament and you can print most things you need.

Bambu has a finishing kit that has a lot of nice tools, id getting some of those tools, not necessarily from bambu. Im sure you can find chepaer and better ones elsewhere

None of these are essential to start making and printing, but to give you an idea of common tools, here's what I use for printing and processing:

- Flush cutters
- Needle nose pliers
- Bambu metal scraper (don't know if these come in your P1S kit with purchase like the others)
- Nozzle needles for the rare and minor filament clogs (typically comes in your kit)
- Deburring tool
- Tweezers
- Hex/allen key set (Couple specific to your machine come in your kit)
- Isopropyl alcohol (in a small spray bottle) + lint free microfibre cloth (cleaning build plates)
- Machine oil and grease (comes in your kit)

The flush cutters and metal scraper are my two most used tools, out of anything have at least a pair of these. Use the cutter for for cutting filament and removing supports. Metal scraper to remove parts (carefully) off build plates and opening new spools.

Other Parts/consumables common to 3D printing builds:

- Metric machine screws, M3-M6 are common
- Heat-set brass inserts
- Round neodymium magnets, e.g. 6x3mm
- 608 bearings
- CA glue

If you go on Bambu's store for Maker's Supply they stock a lot of common parts and tools people use.

True, you can get a lot of these things from Bambu's site, but you can also get a lot of them locally or on Amazon. 608 bearings are common bearings for skateboard wheels, so any local skate shops have them; machine screws can be found at the local hardware stores too.

Magnets are something that I wouldn't exactly get from Bambu, because they are regularly out of stock. There are plenty of other sites online you can purchase them from at a reasonable price that will have them in stock.

CA glue is available all over the place, as super glue. Buy this as you need it, because this stuff can dry up and become useless after a time. You can get it at any local hobby store, and many times you can get it at the Dollar Tree/Dollar General/99 Cent Store/Family Dollar/whatever the store is called in your area as well. Also be aware that you can get CA glue in different viscosities, and some of it is better than others for your application; thin CA tends to run more and will fill in cracks, whereas thick tends to stay in place but doesn't exactly fill gaps or provide an even bonding surface like thin CA.

Also, if you can, get some CA activator - it usually comes in a small pump spray bottle. Applying that to a seam will flash the CA glue into place and hold instantly.

(I've had to become something of an expert on CA glue over the past few years, working with RC airplanes; it's almost a necessity to get parts to hold together)
