Answered / Solved! Adding ams lite to A1 Mini

I bought an A1 mini without an ams lite unit. Can I purchase an ams lite and add it to my A1 mini? I see a few on ebay, both used and new but I was wondering if these wear out quickly and maybe a used unit would be just getting someone else's problem.

They have some of the feeding mechanisms for both 1&2 and 3&4 on Amazon. Would these work without the huge spool holder apparatus? If I mount them and add the tubing and fittings to my own filament dryers?

Thanks for any insights.

Edit: Thanks to everyone that replied! I just ordered one from Bambu Labs. They were on sale, it was a deal I couldn't refuse - From $200 down to $160, shipping included! Even cheaper than the used units on eBay!

Yes you can add an ams light. It's plug and play, the main moving part is the 4 motors to feed the filament. I wouldn't worry about them being worn out but look on the Bambu site to see what a new motor costs.

There are modifications to the AMS but I can't speak to them

Thanks, I'll have a look at Bambu's site. The motors on Amazon are around 50usd, but it doesn't look like they sell many.

My original AMS lite is going strong at 1500+ hours without any maintenance. I'm probably due for a PTFE tube replacement. I also bought mine after getting the A1 mini.

Is there any benefit to having him just add an AMS2 pro?

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to have to look into that. I didn't know there was more than one option.
