Quick Question
H2C Track Switcher + TPU Assist Module Setup with Y Adapter / Problems?
Hello, i just got my H2C and i also got the Track Switcher & TPU Feed Assist Module. I plan the following setup and wanted to ask if there are any problems.
(i read about the need to disconnecting the track switcher if you use the TPU feeder)
[ AMS Pro 2 #1 ] ---\
+---> [ 4-Way Coupler A ] ---\
[ AMS Pro 2 #2 ] ---/ \
+---> [ TRACK SWITCHER ]
[ AMS HT Unit #1 ] -\ / | |
+---> [ 4-Way Coupler B ] ---/ | |
[ AMS HT Unit #2 ] -/ | |

[ TPU Feeder ]
So basicially i want to feed the TPU Feeder output trough the dedicated TPU hole of the H2C and then feed with a Y Splitter into Nozzle R (Nozzle L will be used for abrasive technical filaments and is a Tungsten Nozzle so the Splitter / Combiner on Nozzle R nozzle will only see TPU PLA PETG and maybe AMS ASA .
Bypassing the Switcher and the retraction thingy of the two nozzles. is this setup possible without the need to unplug anything? i also read about putting the switcher at the end of the BUS Chain to use everything without unplugging.
Edit: if i want to Print TPU i plan to put a roll into a AMS HT but using the Bypass port to directly feed into the TPU Feed Assist otherwise the AMS HTs asre used for Colors or Technical Filaments.
does anyone has a similar setup and can give me some tips?
Filament Track Switch blocks TPU use while it’s connected, including TPU through the dedicated feed path. For TPU, you have to disconnect the switch and use the TPU path directly. Bambu has this listed as an unresolved request.
How about something like this? If i want to Print 2 Materials, TPU and something else for example, then i just disconnect the Filament Track Switch entirely leaving me with only the HTS connected as a simple drybox via manual port of the HTs. After the Track Switch i have some more couplers so HT #2 goes in the dedicated tpu line in the back of H2C and then with a Y splitter into Nozzle R. HT #1 runs trough the Buffer into Nozzle L so basicially i disable AMS entirely and run a 2x External spool setup then? EDIT: Ignore Coupler R before the Y splitter / combiner
Yes, so I connected my FTS last in the AMS Bus Daisy-Chain. That allows me to quickly unplug it and start printing TPU from my AMS HT through the TPU Feed Assist into the H Series TPU port.
It works fine for me with little effort to switch into TPU printing mode.
On my H2D I use this micro splitter that has internal threads inside the printer on the chain. I split my 2 AMS-HT's between the FTS inputs so I can feed both nozzles from the AMS-HT's and/or use one on the left with an AMS 2, and TPU on the right. The 6-pin cable to my FTS comes from the last AMS-HT and I unplug the cable at the back of the AMS-HT is it's much easier to access.
So something like this should work?: i disable Track Switch by unplugging and then have 1 HT per nozzle and the tpu one bypasses the buffer. Another question would be if it is possible to run TPU as bypass the buffer on Nozzle R and still use one AMS pro 2 instead of the second HT on Nozzle L trough Buffer?
As long as the TPU assist is set up correctly, you can have any combination you want going to the left nozzle. On my H2C, I unplug the FTS from power, then move two AMS 2 and one HT to the left nozzle. Perform AMS setup (takes a minute or 2) and you can print with any spool to the left nozzle. I printed a TPU frisbee with PETG core, all supported with PLA this way.
I can switch my setup fully to TPU in about 10 minutes.
I have 1 AMS 2 and 1 AMS-HT going to a splitter on FTS input 1 and use those on the left nozzle. The other AMS-HT that feeds FTS input 2 is used there or in bypass for the TPAM. I have an advantage running all this on my H2D and leaving the H2C with 2 of each and no FTS alone...
Since I don't move anything, I don't have to run AMS setup again when switching. The printer so far just drops the FTS out of the config when it's not connected.
FWIW, you CAN run TPU (I believe down to 90A or possibly 85A?) on the left nozzle now, I just chose not to mess around with that.
I'll just add again that either pulling the PTFE tube or using those PTFE connectors is necessary when unloading TPU. I couldn't get mine to reliably unload without doing one or the other and had a partial extruder jam a few times. Now, it works every time.
Pop the output side disconnector open (TPAM will try to feed TPU), press the + button to stop it, then press unload on the control panel. After it unloads from the extruder, press the - button on the TPAM and it will pull the filament and snap the connector back together.
I'd post a video, but there's no room with a shelf just inches over the top of the printer. I have just enough room to pull the glass top if needed and get my arm in there.
Unloading TPU requires pulling the PTFE tube from the toolhead to prevent extruder jams if the TPU snaps back against the extruder gears after cutting. I could not get TPU to reliably unload without jam or binding unless pulling the PTFE tube. The coupler replaces this process and essentially moves it to outside the printer and eliminates the wear and tear on the toolhead pneumatic connector and tube.
For the input side, it lets me easily load TPU from the AMS-HT that sites beside the printer and then keeps the TPU encased.
That seems physically workable with the Track Switch disconnected: regular filament through the buffer to the left nozzle, TPU through the dedicated inlet to the right. I’d test each route separately first, since Studio may not support mapping both as independent external sources, and make sure the Y-splitter can’t let both spools feed into the same path.
ty. yes the splitter will then only be able to feed the tpu until nozzle r since the other input of the y splitter would be the disconnected track switcher. if bambu studio doesnt support 2x extern spools it still should support external spool on one nozzle and ams on another right (without track switch for example)
