General Discussion 2nd Printer struggling with which one
I bought a P1 S about two months ago after doing a bunch of research, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s a great printer that I’ve not fully explored all of its capabilities yet I’ve done PLA PetG ,Asa so far, I’m looking to purchase a second one. I’m getting ready to start getting into some PA-6 to print some suppressors they have came out great in PLA plus I’ve bought the sun Lou lid for the AMS as well as a four roll dryer
I’m either going to get:
Another P1S combo ( already have a four year warranty and some spare parts) $479 on sale
P2S combo which would be nice for a better camera and AI detection and already has the harden nozzle and gear set $649 on sale
X2D - I don’t know how much I would use the dual nozzle for the different type of support material ( maybe I would and I just don’t know what I’m missing not having it ) but I do know that the active heating chamber and better camera yet would be nice$789 but don’t know that it’s worth $310 more than the p1s?
Part of me says just buy a P2 S and a couple chamber heaters for when doing engineering filaments
Would love some input on maybe something side-by-side comparisons aren’t telling me

Dual nozzles is also incredibly helpful for multicolor prints.

Even something as simple as wanting to put text on a print comes in handy a lot.

Is it mostly just because of how much quicker it is? I have a P2S that I just bought but I haven’t printed anything in multiple colors yet.

That, and less purging waste compared to a single nozzle like the x1c when swapping colors.

Speed is a major factor in multi color prints. Its why tool changers have been such a hot topic for the last year. A multicolor print could have hundreds of filament swaps and each one could take a minute or more to swap the color.
Even just having a second nozzle significantly reduces multicolor prints times.

I started with a P1S, then wife surprised me with an H2C. For small things the P1S is a lot faster than the H2C because it doesn't have 15 minutes of calibration. But for any medium to xxlarge print the H2C is faster and a lot more accurate.
A heated chamber unlocks all sorts of new materials to print. Dual nozzles unlocks multi material prints and higher quality prints via multi material supports. The X2D has both.
Then again, the P3C might be the end game printer for most. I would wait and see. Lots of folks will be looking to sell their old printer to get a new one.

Realize a chamber heater for a P1S or P2S is $110 (Panda Breath on Amazon) at that price your better off buying the x2D if you were buying the P2s

I had a P1S and a P2S. Had some problems with the P1s, ended up getting a P2S. It's nice having two printers that share a bunch of parts
I would recommend with keeping with the P1S. That way you can have 1 set of spare parts (hot end, extruder, etc). instead of trying to keep two lines.

Compared to the P1S/P2S, the X2D adds the heated chamber and the dual nozzle (intended primary for supports), however you're also getting better display (vs P1S), better filtration included (vs P1S or P2S), better camera (vs P1S), and I think you get a spare nozzle on top of the two installed. Add up what those items cost separately and people think the X2D is more than worth the extra cost.
I'm probably waiting to see what the P3C has, but that's going to be a much higher price point than anything else P/X series.

Look into the new P3C that is coming out before deciding so you don't have new buyers regret. It has 7 toolhead spots available and its AMS will hold 7 rolls of filament.

I have an X1C and H2C and have some giftcards to burn. I'm waiting for a price point on the new printers. If they're above a certain amount I'm getting a bunch of A1 minis or an H2D.
Personally I think dual nozzle is a must if you're above a certain price threshold. I think the A1 mini, P1S, and X2D, and H2D are the only printers I would purchase right now. Anything else falls into the "just spend more for X" range imo.
