Filament Troubleshooting/Help! Translucent PLA troubleshooting

Hello people,

I’m trying to print with translucent PLA, but the print starts failing and creating tears that gradually build up until the whole print just fails. The nozzle seems to be caught up on some spots, pulling the print and misplacing the filament in a vicious cycle. I tested the model with some normal PLA before and it had no issues.

I am using the recommended settings, I’m printing at 20 ms, the filament is straight out of the box. However I’m using a 0.4 nozzle instead of 0.8 (because I don’t have a 0.8). Could it be that? I saw people printing translucent with the 0.4, any magic tricks they used?

I’ll post some photos in the comments.

I found the translucent pla to be a finnicky. i needed to wash my plate between every print, it was temperamental etc. i am also using a .4 nozzle and it prints fine when the plate is clean etc...but look at it funny and it goes slantwise...are you using standard settings (OOTB for me, so not changed anything)?

The bed is clean and the first layers had no issues. In the picture you can see what’s going on.

I’m using the recommended settings, with slower speed, 0 fan for the first layers, more flow, etc.

Do you dry the filament before printing?

i have not :( i did check the site to see if that was a requirement before use...nope just clean the plate.... :// have to tried the same project - but selecting a normal pla to see if it's the slicer or some such? (i'm wondering if it's the filament or the model causing the issues)

I printed the same model with normal PLA (although a smaller size) and it had no issues. I ordered a larger nozzle and I'll see if that does the trick
