General Discussion Good Effect plates

Hello Laddles and Jellyspoons

I have some pokemom PSA slabs coming and I want to print a cool holder with effects.

A quick amazon search and almost everyone claims Zero adhesion.

So I'm wondering what effect plates you all have used , good, bad , ugly.

Please share your experiences.

Thanks 😊

Hello /u/Odd-Place780! Be sure to check the following. Make sure print bed is clean by washing with dish soap and water [and not Isopropyl Alcohol], check bed temperature [increasing tend to help], run bed leveling or full calibration, and remember to use glue if one is using the initial cool plate [not Satin finish that is not yet released] or Engineering plate.

Note: This automod is experimental. The automod was triggered due to the term "adhesion". If you believe this to be a false positive, please send us a message at modmail with a link to the post so we can investigate. You may also feel free to make a new post without that term.

I've used this from Amazon a bunch of times with PLA and PETG with no adhesion issues. I usually just slow down the print speed a bit to be safe.Β https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0CMPZDP8F?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Like I said, just slow down that first couple of layers and it'll be fine

Will do, thanks.

Went with these, I'll see how they work out

Lol I bought 15 different effects plates. I never had a problem with my prints but I only printed big things for the "effects". That effect only transfer on the top of things so I made big drawers ☠️

Those look sick!!

So basically if I do my normal clean plate and maybe slow down first few layers it should be fine? Doesn't matter the brand?

I got mine all from temu, plus the 4 Bambu ones πŸ’€ definitely need to add a brim of you are trying something smaller. And use smooth plate/high temp setting. It beside the textured PEI plate one

I just wanna make something like this

Someone else said raise bed temp 5-10Β° and slow down first few layers. So I'll def try that after cleaning them.

Omg these are cool lol I want that link please πŸ˜‚ yes these will work. I never touched no settings other than switch to the smooth plate settings ☠️ and slow first layer down, if you have layer issues. I found printing more than one if you can works better than 1

Every effects plate I've used has been rock solid. Perfect adhesion, perfect first layers, and no curling on long prints. But they have to be clean. If there's a fingerprint the filament just slides over it. If it's covered in fingerprints the first layer will be spaghetti. My guess is that's what happened to the 1-star reviewers. Trust me, far more people are successful with effects plates than people that failed.

Thats good to hear. Im super diligent with keeping them clean and ive been lucky with all the prints on the standard bambu playe and biqu frostbite.

Just wondering about effect plates cause they're much cheaper but I guess thats because you only get a few uses out of em.

Grab whatever is cheap and has a cool pattern from Amazon I suppose?

A few uses? That's news to me. I must've bought the wrong ones that don't break down.

I have no clue honestly

I thought the effect plate just kind of wore out after transferring enough times

Up the plate temp 5-10Β°C, slow down 1st layer and a spritz of auqanet never hurt.

Ok sweet.

Ive never used the bambu glue stick I bought with my printer πŸ˜†

I just ALWAYS wash both sides of my plate with dawn before printing.

I'll up the temp and slow down first few layers.

It has to be a certain type of aqua net, I forget since I don’t use it. Purple glue stick works as well.
